Taking the Bobby Portis route. Smart choice. He may become a fan favourite and get the money back in the long run

  2. BcuzRacecar

they made sure he drank enough before asking

  3. jbenson255

Truly respect guys like this because if it was me I’m going to get my first big contract while i still can

  4. I remember when Ronaldinho said during a state title celebration or something he’d play for my soccer team for free his whole career.

He soon left us for money. People say things while drunk and happy lol.

  5. Bobby Portis showed the way in Milwaukee. Brown can sign a two-year deal with a player option for the max the Nuggets can offer. Then next year the Nuggets will have Bird rights and can give him a proper contract after he opts out of the second year.

Ugh don’t give me hope. I’m just setting myself up for pain

  7. Funny-Transition7869

Hm will he say the same while sober, idk

  8. Pretty sure every free agent ever said this in the locker room after chipping.

    >One Rockets $15-$20 million per year offer later

You can always rely on the word of a drunken NBA player at a championship parade

  11. debaserr

He also reiterated this during the parade.

I’m expecting him to opt out and sign a 1+1 for the max Nugs can do. After next year? Who knows.

It would be a very modest raise according to my calculations, but he fits in so well here and it’s gotta be a blast playing and winning with this team. Love you Bruce!

Just like when LMA said he wanted to stay and retire in Portland…right before he left.

  13. Yeah, we’ll see. He hasn’t made that much in his career, and the Nuggets can only offer him, what, a shade under 7.8?

    Nontax MLE starts at 11.

There might be a team willing to go more than that.

Somebody says “Here’s 60 million dollars over four years” is he really staying for 1/7.8? No, he’s not.

  14. Vexing_Pie

Enter Ime Udoka and a $20 million dollar check:

  15. jayelecfan

he will change his mind after some reflection

  16. tasyn123

also what r/nba mods say when asked why they take themselves so seriously

  17. Redditforever12

if you professional athlete you have to take money while you can

  18. NoPin5154

Bruce got a championship. Denver can’t pay him next year either so he’s gonna either take an offer at 49 percent of his market value or risk the fact this may be his greatest chance at a payday

  19. SteuBear2789

Stupid question for a reporter to ask a player right after winning a championship.

  20. I’m sure his agent will make him see reason after he sobers up.

Dude is due for a KCP type bag (15m per), Nuggets can’t offer him that. He can say whatever he wants now but when free agency opens up, he’s not gonna go back when he can double his salary elsewhere.

Whats the most a team will throw at Brown 15 mil/yr?

  22. KhabibTime

Bruce Brown told @denverpost: “Money is not everything.”

as he whispered under his breath: “…it’s the only thing.”

  23. He definitely gone. That’s just alcohol and championship vibes talking lol. He is a role player he won’t get these types of opportunities to make generational money often

  24. CooperHouseDeals

Wait till he talks to his agent, and issues a retraction

  25. ChiefKeefIsGoat

He will and should take the money wish he could stay but it is what it is

  26. AnotherDrZoidberg

Different story when you’re staring down at an offer that pays you $10 million more per year.

  27. thelunarunit

After all the craziness he dealt with in brooklyn, he probably cherishes a drama free franchise.

  28. DatDudeJakeC

If he hypothetically stayed for another year at the most the Nuggets could offer him (a little under 8 mil), they could make a deal in writing about a potential deal the next offseason. Seems like a team that likes to take care of their guys

  29. elkresurgence

Can they buy out Reggie Jackson to make room, or are they still over the cap?

  30. Sure but a fat contract is a FAT contract. get your bag bruce, you deserve it.

  31. Whit3boy316

Right, but let’s say a difference of $10M

  32. boxofpickledpeppers

So weird how this sub is posting clips from a week ago?
