Nuggets star Nikola Jokic returns to his hometown in Serbia after NBA Finals glory

Less than a week after winning the NBA championship with his Denver Nuggets and winning the NBA Finals MVP award, Nikola Jokic is back in his hometown and devoting his time to his biggest passion: horses and horse racing.
Jokic arrived on Saturday, June 17, with members of his family to Sombor, a sleepy town of some 40,000 people in northwestern Serbia.
On Sunday, June 18, a horse harness racing club by the name of Dreamcatcher, owned by the Jokic family, organized a harness racing day at the small Sombor racetrack. Hundreds of people crowded the small stands of the hippodrome while trying to get a glimpse of both the races and their famous neighbour, the NBA star.
Jokic arrived late to the tracks, followed by local media. Famously shy and laconic, he was not in a talkative mood, declining to talk to members of the press, passing them by as he entered the racetrack.
Appearing on the stands from time to time amid members of his family and friends, he stayed on for only minutes, watching every race his stable had participated in, then disappearing out of sight. He was in the company of his wife and daughter, brother, father and friends.

  1. Everyone on the team is in the USA sitting in their lavish multi million dollar homes. The joker is in a small town across the world watching a horse race! Heโ€™s not hiding from the media at all. He doesnโ€™t give a fuk. He doesnโ€™t care at all. Total baller and legend! Steal balls! Just get the hell out of his way so he can live life. The season is over with. His job is done for the year. ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ˜…โค

  2. Iโ€™m betting heโ€™s eager to have life settle back down to normal at home; as much as it can.

  3. I thought it was a horse racing like kentucky derby, but it is a classic horse racing, what a unique hobby mr.MVP๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘
