Should Portland Trade The 3rd Overall Pick Or Damian Lillard? | 06/21/23

Dan Patrick discusses whether or not the Portland Trail Blazers should trade the 3rd overall pick in tomorrow’s NBA Draft for a proven veteran player who can help them win now or if they should trade Damian Lillard and start a rebuild

  1. Blazers need to start a rebuild, while they still can, effectively, before it’s too late.

I wouldn’t mind a trade for Zion, but Dame at his age seems like the move to make is to rebuild with their new young coach.

Can’t put it all on the GM either. The HC, GM and owner need to have a real discussion about their immediate future.

I would probably trade Dame to Miami for whatever salary matches and 2 picks starting with this year’s 18th pick.

Now I would talk to Dame about the Miami deal to see if he has other options like the Lakers or to the Suns for Ayton. The Suns don’t have any picks so I’m thinking Lakers(17th) or Heat(18th).

Heat is first option cause they should have the bs contracts Blazers can dump soon, while rebuilding. Tyler Hero and one other player even if it’s sign and trade like Gabe Vincent.

  2. Get Dwight Howard. Get Donte from Warriors. Get Harrison Barnes. Trade Lillard for Booker. Trade 3rd pick for Westbrook.

  3. He's the guy that will stay in a toxic relationship instead of pulling the band aid because "men always take care of theirs"…. It's clear Portland doesn't want to win.

  4. Bam is Heat culture. The Heat have had a lot of bad contracts over the last 10-12 years and have survived the same mistakes other teams make with player development. Now they have decisions to make with Strus, Vincent and Martin. Duncan Robinson got a sweetheart of a deal, too good.

  5. If making a bad trade or draft pick cost you the GM job in Portland they would have had 30 in the last 30 years.
