Tony East with the trade terms
The 2024 1st rounder the Pacers are receiving from DEN is one that DEN just got from OKC, per source. It is the 2024 first that is worst of:
Houston (1-4 protected)
Utah (1-10 protected)
LA Clippers (unprotected)
Oklahoma City (unprotected)Pick 40 to IND, 29 + 32 to DEN.

[“I would wager that it’s pretty unlikely that even the worst of those four picks is as low as 29. So the Pacers get (likely) a better first next year and move back 8 spots in the 2023 second round. Asset juggling since they can’t make 5 picks this year. ](https://twitter.com/TonyREast/status/1671576048251682817)
I think this is actually a great move. Given the PG rumors the Clippers may even blow it up or just not be so great next year. So this pick could certainly be much better than 29 (even if something weird happens like Harden signing Huston and carrying them to a high seed). Juggle assets and get a potentially better asset next year (I know it’s a “weak” class but the reality is that these assessments are not always very reliable and KP knows that, maybe his scouts think there will be good value).
Denver is not included, this could be a great pick
So it’ll likely come with to how “well” OKC or Clippers finish (since they’re the best teams of the bunch).
Woj/Bobby Marks are saying Denver’s first is included, Tony East is saying it’s not.
Any clarity? Because that makes a huge difference.
I forgot that DEN have their own pick included in this as well, according to Woj, so it’s going to be 25-30 next year. Kind of a bummer, but there is potential for it to be better than 29, so….and it helps spread assets. Had to consolidate for this year or next year, and it’s next year so far.
What does least favorable from those picks mean? Pacers get the lowest draft pick?
Clippers could be really good next year. No guarantee they will blow things up. Acquiring Brogdon doesn’t seem like a team planning on mailing next year in.
