smh looks like we might have to watch siakam and fvv for another 4 years. They get older and stay pretty much the same while younger players come in better than them or eventually surpass them but its ok winning culture right? you would think the front office would be smart to prioritize the most important player on the team scottie but nope.

Hopefully Scottie can recoup some trade value; if we’re going all in on Fred and siakam there’s no sense keeping him around.

What option do you think he will be if the teams are scoot, Simons, OG, Scottie, Yak? Feels like Simons OG, and Scoot will still have more shots?

  4. Ylissian

I’d be much more worried about Scottie’s consistency and effort level than how many shots he takes. He can impact the game at a very high level, hopefully Darko gets him to wake up.

Don’t worry siakam is butler tier! right?………..right guys?

  6. If that happens I promise you Scottie will ask to be traded and OG and Gary will leave next year.

  7. ColdDarkSpace

siakam and fred thank you for the ‘19 chip but you guys need to leave please i cant watch this duo for another season .

  8. i have no issue with running it back again. this sub thought this team was a playoff contender at the start of last season.

Glad yall are pre emptively throwing your tantrum I haven’t seen this much heat since Roman beat Cody.

If Scottie got better, he’d be a higher option…

Hopefully he comes back with some improvements instead of demanding things he hasn’t earned yet.

  12. I love scottie but if he is the number 1 option on offense our team will be dead last

Comes down to coaching this year and Scottie’s own aggressiveness. We don’t need Scottie with a 30% USG%, just need to him to expand his own game and take advantage of his opportunities the best he can.

A few less shots at the end of the shot clock for Fred, a few less isos for Siakam and there will be lots of possessions for Scottie to shine.

  14. SideEffects96

Exactly. In order for a young player to develop they need more responsibility to learn from mistakes. Siakam nor FVV taking a back seat to do that. This team that claims to care about development is actually messing with Scottie’s right now because they too attached.

  15. You realize he has been dreadful at shooting right?

  16. KeyEntityDomino

I think as long as they let Fred walk and not sign this ludicrous 30m/yr deal, Scottie will have enough ball to develop properly as the 2nd option.

You guys really need to learn more about Darko’s coaching philosophy.

There is no more 1st option, 2nd option, 3rd option, and so on. It is all about creating good shots through movement. No one gets preferential treatment. Everyone gets “touches” even if they don’t take the shot.

I can’t help but think of the parallels with Ted Lasso’s third season and the embrace of “total football”.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_Football

If you watched the show, you know he came to this through basketball’s triangle offense, which incorporates similar principles. Both are about player and ball movement and about situational awareness.

Darko employs a similar philosophy based on the “0.5 offense”, in which you either drive, pass, or shoot and you have to decide in 0.5 seconds. Nobody holds the ball. No isolation. No set roles. I don’t know if we will see that in full effect here, but the idea that the ball must never stop moving is absolutely going to be a core element.

As he should be, Scottie is not #1 option material.

Can anyone run a comparison to Scottie pippen first three years? I feel like pippen really struggled his first few years. That might be Barnes ceiling as a much lighter version of Scottie pippen
