[McMenamin] The Lakers made a significant commitment to make sure they could get a chance at Maxwell Lewis, sending ~$4m to Indiana to move up from 47 to 40. The rangy 6-7 forward out of Pepperdine made a major impression in his predraft workout with the team.

  1. If the scouts saw something that made the front office jump to acquire another pick, then this kid is a future star.

  2. apparently the buss bros were at a ton of his games and would have taken him in the first if they got a late pick. good athleticism and can shoot and play some D. hes got really good upside if his shot creation translates

  3. We got A 6′ 7″, 195 lbs Lengthy and long Wing, now time to go to work, see you in a couple years!

Put in work and he could fit Christie, Reaves, Rui, and JHS? Timeline

This is the Wing our Scouting Department wanted, lets see if they Cooked!

My Wing I’ve been bitching about getting all night, not the exact one i wanted but we will let him Cook.

Don’t know much but I know our 2nd rounders and undrafted players be hittin 😂 hope he’s good in the future!

Miss late pick steals like Kuz and Hart sigh. We stopped getting those.

makes no sense Max Lewis was projected at 28-35 range they would have never thought he’d be here this late

Not saying he wasn’t a good pick and they weren’t pleasantly surprised he fell, but the wording here makes zero sense if they were that adamant about Lewis they should have traded up to 29 or something

I like this pick. Hate the 1st round pick.

  8. Smaller Brandon Ingram type body with better athleticism. Summer League just around the corner.

I hope he is another lakers 2nd round amazing pick

  10. We got a player from my alma mater–never woulda saw that coming

Coach Romar from Pepperdine has put out many productive NBA players from mid majors/smaller schools. Full confidence in the kid to be a positive asset for the Lakers early on. Could see him getting minutes this season if his shot stays consistent as it was at Pepperdine, he will get the open looks

His tape looks awesome; I’m assuming he’s not a higher pick because he plays questionable defense and went to Pepperdine lol.

Offensively though he looks like he has the potential for a Kuz/Reaves type overperformance of his draft position.
