  1. @John I think Walsh could really help if he is a good defender right off the bat and gets coached up well and can get 10 to 15 minutes a game. Will be interesting to see if all these extra 2nd's get packaged with Payton or Grant to get better help as well. Thanks for the breakdown good Sir

  2. Night was so disappointing to what I thought it was gonna be after we got Colby Jones and I realized we needed 2 move to that pick and was happy he was still there and we also traded the pick before Andre Jackson

  3. Roster reset and minutes allocation post porzingis trade and draft night:

ballhandlers; white (28), brogdon or pp (20 and 0), JD (0), Yam (0), 5 pgs

white starts and plays close to 30m. the backup is whoever isnt traded between pp and brogdon. brogdon may have surgery though so if the celtics trade PP, the runway may open for JD to gain some minutes at the start of the season or they bring yam over from the euroleague. most likely though JD has another year of being the garbage time/maine pg. Yam wont come stateside just to play in maine. so yes, we still have excess pg depth. we still need to trade 1 of pp/brogdon.

    wings: tatum (36), JB (36), hauser (24), champegnie (0), walsh (0), begarin (0), 6 wings

so we're a little thin behind JT, JB here unless we trust sam to take a leap and deserve those 24 nightly mins or think one of walsh/champegnie can snipe about 8m off of sam. this is the celtics 2nd biggest need left in the offseason where they'll bring IN a 3ND wing to give JB/JT a rest from guarding the opposing wings for about 12 mins a night. champegnie and walsh will the garbage time/maine wings for JD to pass the ball to. Begarin isn't coming stateside just to play in maine.

    bigs: porzingis (32), rob (28), Al (20), kornet (16), kabengele (0), 5 bigs

not only do we lack a developmental big to play aside kabengele in the maine, but do we really trust Kornet to be the 4th big playing behind KP playing 16 mins a night? i can see kornet spelling al when he sits for b2B but as a regular for 16m? i'm not sure he's ready yet. so yes, a big is still our biggest need. a backup level big is fine.

    roster spots filled (assuming walsh is 2W); 11/15, 3/3 2W, 2 international, 14/18

    unsure; blake, grant

grant will mostly be traded out in a sign and trade or walk. those kornet mins could be his if he stays. no word on blake yet if he re-signs with the team. would be nice to have the bus 1 boys president back. he could split those 16m for backup big with kornet if he comes back.

needs; upgrade at backup big and wing. what we have though is adequate.

assets for upgrades; pp, brogdon, grant, 6 future 1st RD picks, 5 future 2nd RD picks, 5M TPMLE, vet min

I'll post trade targets for the backup big and wing in a separate post.

  4. I believe that there are still going to be more moves made and that is where all the 2nd round pics will be used.

  5. I love Marcus and will miss him, but I guess I have to admit that we should have won the last two NBA Championships but fell short, and something needed to be done.

  6. So we traded Smart, Galo, Muscala, and pick 35 for Porzingis, Pick 38, 1st rd pick next year from GS, and 4 future second round picks….

  7. The Celtics 2023 draft: much ado about…well not nothing, but pretty uneventful. I like Walsh-kid is super athletic and has a chip on his shoulder. Should be a lot of fun to watch in Maine. John: GET SOME SLEEP😂🤣#NumberOneOverallPick

  8. Great concluding comment John. If Tatum, Brown etc… had performed to their capability(taking care of business & reaching the finals) Brad wouldn't have had to make the Smart deal for Porzingis. He concluded accurately(like Windhorst. said) they. weren't championship ready and needed to upgrade the roster with a difficult decision in the process.

  9. Not feeling great about team. Brad drafts as if Joe only plays like 7 guys…oh, snap!….. Celtics defense will miss Smart & Grant. Sounds like we got a great defender though, in case they want to go 4 on 5 offensivly. I'm not excited about 2nd rounders, as undrafted guys aren't far from that. I'm trying to get excited about the Unicorn. I hope we can get 82 games out of him and Rob combined. Is Brogden wrecked so bad we can't move him? Also I thought Gallo would replace Grant. I hope Brad has more up his sleeve, other than loading up the Maine squad in two years. I can't see blaming Smart for C's blowing 2 chips in last 2 years, certainly Joe was badly outcoached vs Miami this year. I wish Ime had kept it together, I have no faith in Mazulla, and like the Blazers, we're pissing away our star players best years.
