The short story of how Victor Wembanyama received a bag of breakfast tacos on his first official day as a San Antonio Spur.

Last night, following his selection as the #1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Victor Wembanyama participated in media availability, and responded as such to the following question:

Wembanyama was scheduled to arrive in San Antonio International Airport’s private jet terminal the next day (*today, June 23*), tentatively around 1:30p local time. KSAT-12, a TV station in San Antonio reported that The Coyote (Spurs mascot) had brought a bag of breakfast tacos to deliver to Wembanyama upon his arrival at the airport.

Unfortunately, Wembanyama’s flight was delayed past the expected 1:30pm arrival time, and fans — and The Coyote, with the bag of breakfast tacos, alike — waited hours in triple digit (Fahrenheit) heat in anticipation of his arrival, into the late afternoon.

Hark! Passengers begin to exit the plane, but unfortunately KSAT-12 and The Coyote seem to mistake Victor’s younger brother for Victor, with The Coyote even handing off the bag of breakfast tacos to the wrong intended recipient:

When Victor actually does exit the plane, greet the fans, and eventually make his way to The Coyote, KSAT-12 reporters presume the bag of breakfast tacos has successfully been delivered — despite the bag not being visible in frame.

Victor, bag-less, makes his way toward the airport hangar, when someone hands him a brown paper bag.

Given their excitement at the successful delivery, it seems plausible this bag is entirely novel from the original bag of breakfast tacos prepared by The Coyote — which presumably is now in the possession of Victor’s younger brother.

Shortly afterwards, Victor posts the following picture (screenshotted in this [tweet](https://twitter.com/MrCastilloBoy/status/1672353948869558274)) on social media, confirming he has received *a* bag — captioning it with “#BreakfastTacos”.

However, it remains to be clarified whether this bag is the original bag prepared by The Coyote — or the potentially novel bag prepared independently by the person at the airport.

Nonetheless, if not for that person’s actions, Victor might have never received his bag of breakfast tacos — several hours warm from flight delays on a triple digit summer day — on his 1st official day as San Antonio Spur.
