Popovich did not draft David Robinson. He was still only an assistant coach in his first year with San Antonio. He later cam back to SA, after working as an assistant outside of SA, as the GM and eventually took over coaching. David was the biggest proponent for bring pop back to the spurs though. Edit: oh yeah pop wasn't even with the spurs when D rob was drafted cause David stayed in the navy a couple years instead of coming to the NBA after being drafted.

Pop said months ago since the Jakob Poeltl trade that Zach has been so impressive and he's gonna be the starting center next season. Also, it just makes no sense to immediately start Wemby at the 5 and have him take all the contact in the paint. Zach is a big body, nice player and has absolutely no problem with contact
I think most common starting lineups are Tre, Vassell, Keldon, Wemby and Collins. And Sochan, Vassell, Keldon, Wemby and Zach. Maybe also Tre, Devin, Sochan, Wemby and Zach
I would love for the Spurs to sign Draymond Green, and this is coming from a Rockets fan. Green would be an awesome mentor to Wemby, plus add play making and defense.

Folks outside of Spurs fans don’t realize the team was heavy into Load management last season for the tank.
