Jake Fisher: Pels Shopping Jonas, Attempted Deal For Jarrett Allen

> San Antonio was known to be waiting with a short-term contract for Reid and the hope of pairing him with Victor Wembanyama in the frontcourt, sources said. Now the [Spurs](https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/san-antonio/) will have to turn to other targets, perhaps someone like Pelicans center Jonas Valančiūnas, as New Orleans and San Antonio recently did business on offloading Devonte’ Graham’s contract, and **the Pelicans, sources said, have since made Valančiūnas available in search of more mobile, rim-protecting big men. New Orleans made one call, sources said, to Cleveland about obtaining** [**Jarrett Allen**](https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/5835)**.**

Take it for what it’s worth.

Interesting that Allen probably could have been had for basically nothing a few years ago. Love Jonas, but I get the need to shore up the rim protection.

Ah you beat me to it haha, I was gonna post something lol, Daniel gafford, clint Capella or Michell Robinson are the options

I was just thinking how much I’d love to have Jarrett Allen before the draft. I don’t think Cleveland is going to trade him though

I like how everyone just throws rim protection issues on Jonas. It’s a team issue consisting of bad 1 on 1 defense and bad rotations. Sure, Jonas is partly at fault, but if you think trading him will solve it, you’re crazy.

wonder what that trade with the spurs would look like with JV, Probably would have to be a 3-team deal

A JV for Mitchell Robinson swap would be my first choice. I like Collins from SAS, but not as a full time starter because of his health.

The fact that they specify “1 call” is so odd. Makes me think Cleveland’s not interested or their asking price is outrageous and realized they aren’t playing ball. There’s a reason they included that number and it leads me to believe one side was very displeased

Jarrett Allen paired with Zion sounds like Steven Adams 2.0. Apparently Griff hasn’t learned his lesson yet smh

love jonas, willie doesntuse him correctly. Allen will def be a defensive boost and even if he cant stroke it like jv he can do alley oops and stuff. id be down i think. just hated that he said the lights were too bright after the knicks series.

Griff going through centers like king cake.

Agree, blaming Jonas for all our defense woes is like blaming gumbo for a bad hair day. Let’s keep him and improve as a team!

Yeah ,last time we had a defensive center who couldn’t shoot 3’s turned out well

Can’t remember what the fans were saying when we had Steven Adams …
