I sometimes think we really think ownerships in the NBA are being “cheap” by not extending players or cutting guys for cost saving not realizing the MASSIVE amount waiving one player can save in luxury tax.
It’s never about just “signing X player to X amount” when you’re a luxury tax team, it’s about the potentially MASSIVE amount you’re paying in luxury tax for a role player who may not get you over the hump.
