Yeah but if they didn’t do that trade they couldn’t be in a position to save $100M by waiving him. So really, who’s the victor here?

So the Clippers traded Luke Kennard and the pick swap that turned into Cam Whitmore for 27 games of Eric Gordon and the right to no longer have John Wall on the team anymore

  3. EG is a real one to the rockets for this, never complained about being the veteran presence, always plays hard, and then gets shipped off to both parties benefit.

  4. StefonDiggsHS

Move didn’t make sense at the time and doesn’t make sense now. EG added nothing to that clippers roster and he never had a defined role

    Awful awful move

  5. Don’t forget they gave up a FRP for Mook just to keep him away from the Lakers while we got the better Morris for free. The clips are going to give up more assets to get off Mooks deal.

  6. KingNephew

Clippers stacked one to many $10-20M contracts and now shits crumbling.

When a $20M contract means $110M in addition taxes, maybe you need to stop.

  7. pessimist_lakers_fan

The real victory was lowering their tax bill

  8. Alternative_Leg9446

Clippers also turned the Kyrie Irving pick into a Baron Davis salary dump

  9. DemarcusLovin

Harden is gonna opt in and get traded to the Clips now

definitely not a good trade in hindsight but the reaction is hilarious. before the trade everybody talked about how bad kennard’s contract was. and as for cam whitmore, he’s the 20th pick. people are just throwin his name around cuz people recognize it. if someone said “blah blah traded the pick that turned into emoni bates” there would be idiots on twitter saying they made a huge mistake

Also Kobe Brown and 3 (?) second rounders

Cam whitmore was passed over by a bunch of teams that were trying to win. The clippers were not going to take him. They were taking an upper class man. Maybe even the same one…

They did but I wouldn’t regret it if I was them. Gordon is a better fit next to Kawhi and Paul George than Luke Kennard is. Kennard only played 14 mpg when the Clippers made the WCF because his defense sucks. I’m a little surprised they waived Gordon though. He has a good-sized expiring contract that they could have used in a trade. But even Steve Ballmer isn’t going to pay 100 million+ in luxury tax $ for a first round exit team I guess.

I still don’t know why they traded Kennard. He was nice for them.

  15. MVPG2022

Cam Whitmore being mentioned is so disingenuous. He’s just the 20th pick and they got the 30th pick back plus future seconds. If he was valued more highly a team would have drafted him.

  16. When…

    Not if.

**WHEN** Cam Whitmore turns into a star…this will prove to be one of the most lopsided trades in NBA history.

Clippers need to just blow it up. Give Paul George to Portland for scoot. Let kawhi rebuild value this year then ship him off

  18. MahomesMccaffrey

Clippers also saved 110m in the process.

Kennard is good but not worth the tax the clippers are paying

  19. texasphotog

Yeah, but would they have won that single game in the first round without Eric Gordon?

  20. commandrr

Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is a casualty of the new CBA? If so, I feel like it’s tough to blame to front office for something that they did before the new CBA was announced.

  21. woosh_yourecool

Doesn’t take Nostradamus to see the injuries in that team’s future

  22. Fabulous_Investment6

This sounds like the guy who bet 400k that Wemby would go first overall to ultimately win 20k – netting him -380K.

  23. Limp_Ebb_9388

Looks like the Clippers need a financial advisor, stat! 💸😅

  24. Commercial-Target169

Looks like their budget got more airtime than their game, oops! 💸🏀

  25. ObjectiveNight2820

Looks like the Clippers need a crash course in budgeting! Maybe hire a financial advisor instead of another player?

  26. 100 mil tax break. Plus we got like 3 young guys who can play mins. Not terrible but still not great

  27. I love seeing the clippers do everything they can to win only to still be losers 😂😂😂

KL has played 161 games in 4 seasons as a Clipper.

PG has played 189 games in 4 seasons as a Clipper.

*Combined* they barely covered the nut on regular season games to say nothing of playoffs. Not sure the value is there. But thats me.
