Michael Grange on Twitter – If FVV-Rockets happens — & I keep hearing it will — perhaps best option for Raps is Gabe Vincent who is unlikely to return to Heat & could be had for full MLE, per sources. He’s 27, defends, can play on or off ball & is playoff proven.

Siakam will definitely get all nba with the carry job he’s gonna be doing. then we’ll have to super max him

I know people are going to be happy if FVV leaves but that is a big downgrade and we’re markedly worse going into next season if this happens.

And the worst part is the other option is bringing Fred back at a massive overpay… A good GM would have foreseen this and avoided the whole thing by moving Fred and committing to a rebuild when we had the chance

Personally thats what Id want for the Raps.

A non-star defensive minded PG whos a decent shooter but doesnt need as many touches/shots are someone like FVV.

The team needs a change in dynamic, and having FVV lead the offense doesnt offer that change in my opinion.

  4. I think it’s a great option. It would give us a solid stopgap solution, while significantly being better for our cap flexibility.

That said, I’ve literally liked every single MLE signing since I became a fan, and nearly every single one has been a disaster. Even our good ones (CJ and Cory) still had to be shed at some point.

  5. He’s undeniably a step down and isn’t an ideal starting PG but unless we decide to tear it down a bit by sending out Siakam and we get a starter level PG in return somehow – he may be our best realistic option

Doesn’t have to have the ball in his hands as much like Fred did, giving other guys chances at least

I think I would rather lean harder into the whole big lineup vision than spend money on another 6 foot point guard.

Grange is the guy who “heard” were picking Jalen Suggs. He’s just re-states what other reporters and people are saying. He doesn’t have inside knolwedge.

  8. I’m not against Vincent, but like. If we lose FVV we should 100% be rebuilding.

Vincent would raise the floor and just increase the chance that the 2024 pick conveys to the Spurs.

FVV leaves, you move Siakam, simple as that. Otherwise we just waste another year and are almost guaranteed to give the Spurs a lotto pick.

A core of Gradey/Scottie/OG/GTJ is not going to win more than 30-35 games. That’s a bottom 5-7 team with a solid chance of a top 6 pick.

Either that or Masai has to remove protections for the 2024 pick and we run it back with Siakam, and hope we can S&T him.

  9. Ew. I think this playoff run has really inflated his value. Dude is not a PG or lead guard, he just went on a heater during the playoffs from 3 (he’s a career 34% 3P shooter). I’d rather we try to pry Coby White from the Bulls who’s RFA

It makes sense but then our team is worse with vincent instead of FVV. So then we really should be looking to trade pascal and maybe og too. If FVV leaves for nothing, what a clusterfuck by the FO. Masai and bobby should be on the hot seat after what has transpired since the deadline.

I look at freds load/usage on the production you get from him and I’m really not seeing the valley of a gap between these two players.

Gabe coming off a finals run he was banged up in causes me some (opj-like) concern though.

A defensive minded guy who can play equally good off and on the ball would be a good fit what with the kind of offense Darko will bring here. I’d be ok with the Vincent move if it happens, plus he’s got some of that Heat culture going for him.

  13. Ylissian

If Fred isn’t coming back, we should be rebuilding, not trying to run it back with Gabe Vincent as the point guard.

Masai and Bobby need to learn to cut their losses. This is the universe telling them to start fresh.

  14. canadianRSK

Just hope the team has an actual backup plan last thing we need is the center situation again

  15. KratosSmash

Team should just focus on trading pascal at this point. We were already a mid team this year. Adding gabe to replace Fred is a huge downgrade. What’s the point?

Just run Scottie at Point please
