De‘Aaron fox makes the same amount of money as Jerami grant. That’s crazy because Jerami grant has not even been an all star, or even in conversation really. He averaged 20 a game for a bad team. If I was Portland I would just let him to. Depending on how he ages that contract could be one of the worst in the league. I’m more satisfied with Barnes now. Just gotta hope continuity will help because other teams in the west don’t have that
How is it that the sun's can go and sign all those contacts and we over here talking about salary cap left. Let's just stop acting like the salary cap matters when it's about how much lux tax your owner is willing to go over.
Look around the landscape of the NBA other teams making improvements meanwhile in kings land not much going on except with same players as a fan since 1985 it's disappointing you have to upgrade you can't count on players to take that next step it doesn't always work out kings will not have good cap room for a number of years now due to Sabonis & Monk future extensions Barnes is a class act plays every game but come playoffs the man disappears we'll see what happens but I feel #3 seed is not coming next year more like 6-8 that's a regression then what do we do Duarte is fine but injury prone that's not good I appreciate you guys alot very fun to watch keep up the good work 👍
Why does Christian wood get this rep as a toxic guy?
After seeing the deals Middleton,Kuzma,Grant and Brown got,Kings got the hometown discount from HB and won.Look at the analytical side of these deals and it is overwhelming that Monte is HIM.HE knows what he’s doing no doubt.
I think Duarte will be solid for us.
I may be by myself here but I would’ve definitely offered Grant a big contract. He’s making 32 million a year. Middleton just got signed for 34million per. Cam johnson just got 27 million! Bruce Brown got 23 million as a role player!!
Grant shot 40% from 3. That’s hard to come by. They’re especially hard when they defend at an elite level too and are wing players. Those guys are gonna get paid. That would have made us go from top 7 in shooting to at least top 3. We would’ve had 3 guys starting who are shooting over 40% from 3. That’s the perfect compliment to Fox&Domas. But more importantly we would’ve went from ranked 26th in defense to at least top 15. U mix that with a top 3 offense and that’s a recipe for a contending team. We are literally an elite 3&d wing away from competing for a championship. The same way Anunoby gives us everything we need, Grant does the same exact thing but a little lesser. Not as great defensively than OG but better offensively. Now obviously trading for OG will deplete our depth since Huerter or Keegan and a bunch of picks would’ve been traded. Grant would’ve costed us nothing but $$$.
There won’t be another opportunity to have 35 million in cap while our 5 best players were under contract. We were in a very rare situation, and we should’ve took advantage. I’m actually not low on Barnes like most of you. But I would have like to see us try and upgrade that position since it’s the obvious one where we could be so much better as a team.
Oh well it is what it is. I Trust Monte. And from my perspective, they are gearing this team for a bigger trade down the line. For example, once we pay Atlanta our pick that we owe them next season, then we’ll be able to package a bunch of future picks to try and acquire a Mikal bridges/OG/Paul George etc. I believe that’s the plan. And this off-season we’ll be upgrading around the edges. Shoring up the bench. We had an elite starting 5 last year. It was our bench that killed us.
We should kick the tires on Mo Wagner
Thank the lord Duece not a gm. CHRISTIAN WOOD??? Let’s go over some facts. He’s a great shooter for a big at 38% from 3. He’s a very solid rebounder too. But let’s remember…Sabonis is our starting center. Ideally we would need a long defender/screener/rebounder and defense is Woods biggest weakness. Defense is the reason Monte didn’t go after Plumlee to back up Sabonis.
So while it may be nice, that WOOD stretches the floor, we have trey Lyles for that! Trey is a stretch 4/5. Let’s not forget we’re bringing over Vezenkof who’s a 3/4 stretch big as well. So we have enough of Woods skillset. Although a backup frontcourt of Vezenkof, Lyles, Wood would shoot the lights out from that bench with Malik/Davion; but the issue here is defense. Lyles and Sasha are not great defenders already; Wood is even worst defensively than both of them. Their skillsets are too redundant. Our backup 5 has to be a Dwight Howard/Drummond type player. It would be cool if they could shoot, but rebounding and defense should be top priority from that position. So since we’re keeping the same exact starting 5 as last year that ranked 26th in defense, our only way of improving our defense is the bench. We did that by drafting Jones. We have Davion. So drafting a solid defensive big while having another year of our team with Mike Brown, we should see some solid improvements on d. But not if we get Christian wood. Jason Kidd was a dumass for not playing him much last year. But the sole reason was because he would get abused if opposing bigs. He sucks on that end. I think teams would take full advantage of us. We’re gonna have a historical offense again, I have zero doubt. But we need more toughness especially at the backup center position!!
Let me see if I can explain this. Fox, Sabonis, and Murray are going to be starters for the forseeable future. Huerter does exactly what any SG would do on this team, so, whatever. That leaves the SF position as the one position where you can potentially find a significant upgrade. And the team is choosing not to even try. That's what's frustrating.
I've felt a good price for Barnes would be about 18 mil a few months ago. I'm shocked that my intuition was right and people were upset that he got it. He's a dependable, solid starter on a good team. I never saw how 18 mil wasn't a good price for that. I do agree with Mo's take though that the goal should be to have him coming off the bench. If a we have a player can bench Barnes, we are talking about a championship contender.
Monty did a good job. For people who don’t really pay attention to the background noises in the NBA free agency. Deuce and Mo explained it pretty well. To further extend their context that. The Kings priorities resigning their players first. Their knowledge of knowing that they couldn’t get Kuzma and Grant wanted bigger and long term contract. They are better off keeping Barnes and Lyles. With improving the roster they will have to lose Metu and Davis. In return we get Duarte on a rookie deal.
Best they can do is target Mo Bamba or Pumlee for back up center. And maybe we can try to get Dillion Brooks or Pat Bev.
Overall, many value rotational players haven’t been signed yet. We are set for starters. We need defense presence and rebound support for Sabonis. All we really need is valuable rotational players who can make an impact like Malik Monk off the bench.
we still need a backup center, we dont have Metu and Holmes we only have Len and Domas, Mo Bamba anyone?

I don’t drink coffee, but when I do, I want to drink it just like my hero Mauricio mason.
Happy early birthday deuce. Wishing you many more, you are an amazing asset to the community, we are blessed to have you (and mo). Have fun be safe. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great deal for Kuz…
You guys KNOW that’s why he didn’t come? Or assuming?
Christian Wood would be great. 50% shooting doesn’t scream taking bad shots.
Rockets, and Mavs had strong culture around him? Nooo
And this morning land Sasha for 3/20 mil!!
Sasha Vezenkov!!! LITGH THE BEAM!!!!
Im watching this and it drops Sasha sign a 3 year 20 Million deal. This means another take from DnM pending
All these casuals always want the sexy names. They forget we just got Kevin Huerter and Malik last year. Not every year is gonna be like that. Sometimes you just gotta add some pieces that can help the team and make little tweaks. Monte added players that are all 6’6” and above and are all very skilled at the same time. Now with Sasha, we’re already a better team than last year lol. I know Vezenkov ain’t a sexy name to some of y’all, but if you know hoops, can you imagine him and Monk off the bench? Shit maybe even start with Sabonis. Idk about y’all but I’m excited
SASHA IS HERE BABYYY
I did come up with one plausible theory on what the Kings strategy might be. They went all out to make the playoffs last season. Their starters played huge minutes and played through injuries. Maybe the plan is to have a 10 man rotation this upcoming season and count on greater health and energy for the playoffs? Is that enough to make a difference? I'm not sure, but it makes logical sense as an approach.
