Luka has shown he’s terrible defensively too, so I’m not sure what he has to offer. I’d rather take Batum

Obviously Ayton or Allen would be better, but if they are too expensive I agree that taking Zubac for 2 years or so while Lively develops would be a good and much cheaper alternative.

No, he’s not a perfect center. That’s why he’s available.
Yes, we should try to get him. He’s an obvious upgrade over any other C on our roster

At least the dude is capable of giving us a double double every night.
Couldn’t remember when a Mavs C gave us a double double twice in a row.

I’d love for them to acquire him and Norman Powell

He’d be perfectly fine. Guy averages 10 and 10 with 0 playmaking or PnR play in that Clippers team.

I’ll take Zub as a stop gap for something better down the line potentially, but I just don’t think he’s a title contending center for a team with lackluster perimeter defense. Luka is obviously amazing, but giving up 355 points per possession every time you get switched onto him probably means you’re not the best defender.
Guys like Looney and Gobert make Luka actually work for his points on the perimeter, Luka made it look so easy against Zub though.

He would be a huge upgrade on this team.

Zubac would be a slight upgrade, but he’s not a difference maker. We should go after Jarrett Allen instead; he’s on exceptionally good contract until 25/26 (when that money would be peanuts), so we have an option after 2 years (when he’s starting his prime) to trade him for a superstar or just keep him. Just imagine Allen with Luka and Kyrie for a second on both ends…
It may look mission impossible to get him, but maybe it’s not if we include Lively into a deal. I know Mavs fans are crazy about him, but let’s be real – we’d trade him for a polished jewel and a star, not a potential and we need him today, not someday in the future, maybe if he develops. Chances that he would be that good are very slim anyway. For Lively Cavs might be interested due to his perfect age and potential. I think this might be doable with some Lively package, McGee or Holmes and someone else (since they don’t need Timmy anymore). Allen and if we get Grant Williams and we’re suddenly looking quite promising overnight. Worth a try.

Zubac would be amazing. He’s better than what Clippers have shown. Kawhi and PG are really good 1on1 players but are nothing special at orchestrating an offense.
He has underrated touch around the rim. He could legit double his FGA with Luka. Hitting his prime too age wise. He’s also available all the time. I don’t think i’ve ever seen a Clippers game without Zubac playing. I’d honestly take him over both Ayton and Allen.

If nothing else he should want to come to the Mavs so he can stop getting torched by Luka on the PnR switch. That man has had 4 years of nightmares from Luka including 13 playoff games.
