The Toronto Raptors have been widely considered one of the big losers so far in NBA free agency after losing Fred VanVleet for free to the Houston Rockets and replacing him with Dennis Schroder on a 2-year, $26 million contract. With the additional flexibility under the tax the Raptors were able to use their bi-annual exception and they put it to use on yet another versatile and switchable 6’9 forward by picking up Jalen McDaniels after the Philadelphia 76ers failed to strike a deal with the player who thet traded Matisse Thybulle and a 2nd round pick to get just 5 months ago.
The Toronto Raptors were lacking depth and certainly, this addition from Masai Ujiri’s management team is an interesting one for the Raptors, but the greater concerns remain in the shooting department and with point guard depth, especially after downgrading so heavily from VanVleet to Schroder. As much as McDaniels is a good player, the team needs more help elsewhere.
All signs suggest the Raptors want to put a competitive team on the floor next season, and unless more moves are on the horizon that seems far-fetched and this signing isn’t going to change that.

We might have to put DS in starting point guard but this have to pull off Siakam from starting lineup…

I believe this signing is not related to need but rather as a replacement piece in case of a potential upcoming trade for Thad, Boucher, Otto or even O.G. depending on what the noise behind Siakam is all about.
Dennis, at this point, is our backup point with Dowtin and Flynn as potential 3rd string players. We also have an injured player exfeption of 3MM what can be used to bring in a veteran PG who is worth a bit more than minimum. And as seen with the Cavs, there always a chance of sign&trade for a larger 10MM contract. Malik Beasley is another name to lookout for if he wants to be part of this new era of Raps basketball,
He can shoot the ball unlike most of the bigs we have.. so In that sense he is a good pick up. We still need alot more shooting if we gonna run it back minus Fred. I believe Maliki Fynn will have a break out season under this new coaching system
Plus OG seems to really want a bigger role on offense..really don't see how his role will get bigger with pascal still there, barnes and Trent will definitely need their touches too .
We are not treating Pascal Siakam our best player bring in a player to play with Siakam time to get rid of OG put a package together put some draft picks together. Let’s get Siakam and Scotty someone to play with.

Schroder's career stats are very close to FVV's. A metric that is probably most important and where he's waayyy better than FVV ? Clutch scoring. I'm just saying, this is a guy you want on the floor at the end of games. Also, unlike FVV, he may even pass the ball to another great clutch scorer ; Scottie Barnes.
I believe that a trade is coming and I believe the Raptors are shopping siakam, four guard help and young players

I get rid of both siakam and og. Og is known for injuries and his value is sky high. I go for replacing both of them for dame or someone else who is more consistent
I really think you're going to eat your words when it comes to Flynn. I see something in his game that was completely ignored by the Raptors/NN that I think can be the key to his success. If coach Rajakovic let's Flynn exploit and use this talent, I think he can be an excellent 2nd PG and the key to the 2nd unit. Or not, we'll see🤔

Seems like McDaniel brought in so Siakam or Anunoby can be traded for a package that includes a PG
instead of just saying we need to replace FVV, tell us how you would replace FVV? You think just trading away everybody to get a PG makes sense, then who's left to play with and we're a bit above a rebubild? you're just talking but not giving a solution. We have Dowtin, Flynn and now Schroeder. We are still getting to the promised land. We still have wait to see. We're not a the buying elite talent stage yet.
Darko will be able to get the best out of these players just like he did for Desmond Bane.
Everybody keeps saying Raptors are losing alot of shootimg because we lost Fred. But thats because Fred took alot of shots. Just have others taoe more shots. Share the ball is what the new coach is about.
Darkos play style doesnt need such a ball hog pg thats take alot of shots. Remember Masai said they were playing selfish basketball. Your view on losing Fred is a big loss on our shooting and pg play, is lacking the understanding that the ball is gonna move around and it will be a better team offense.
Who’s Jalen McDaniels? Never heard of the man until the signing. I doubt someone that isn’t well known for his play moves the needle. I hope to be proven wrong.

This team when healthy is easily a 45/47 win team with even greater potential if the team clicks under Darko. Losing FVV for nothing is what it is (says more about him, he’ll ever even sniff kyles greatness’s as a raptor), but his inefficiencies, selfishness, and undersize was such a big detriment than most raptor fans have been blinded and jaded by to have any faith in the team and the moves we just made. Betting the over on the win/loss total of the raptors if it’s 45 or less is EASY MONEY💰.
If you got any friends that are laker fans, bet ‘em that the raptors gonna have a better record too 😂. They’ll think it’s a easy W just cause we took Dennis from them.
I would have to disagree…FVV leaving is a plus…we need someone that knows when to shoot and when to pass. Not pad his stats man, what are takin about?
This is the worst raptors channel by far, just really simple takes and ujiri bashing over and over. Just a debbie downer with no passion / excitment / or faith in the team now or ever. If fred got traded for peanuts at the the trade deadline the situation would not be much diffrent from now AND this channel would have criticised that trade 100 % guaranteed.
I think me and many raptors fans still have things to be excited about like fred being off the team , new coach / new Style , Scottie bigger role / development , Grady Dick and a fuller deeper bench with Otto coming back and Mcdaniels signing. Who knows what other moves might come as well.
This little rough patch is nothing for long time fans who actually love the team , Enjoy the ride.
