It’s a good line but I think it misses the point a little bit. Even with drafted stars, reputation matters—maybe Scoot (or, honestly more likely, his agent) remembers the way the Dame situation was handled in 7 years and is like “nah, the team isn’t good and I can’t trust them to trade me to a good team if it’s still not good in a year, I’m not re-signing”
