If the Celtics somehow land Dame without giving up Brown, I’m weary about how top heavy the team will be. Makes me think of the 18-19 season where nothing worked…

Dame is trying his hardest to ensure no other team trades for him, but even if we get a disgruntled Dame he’ll be infinitely better locker room wise than fucking Kyrie

  2. nsideris24

I’d much rather be relying on Damian Lillard or Kristaps Porzingis to pick up the scoring slack on nights where JT or JB are struggling….than Marcus Smart as the 3rd option.

And depth really doesn’t make a huge difference since come playoff time only 7 or 8 guys are playing anyway

  3. horseshoeoverlook

Fuck Lillard and his Miami-wanting ass.

  4. Brad-Stevens

The 18-19 team was too deep, not topheavy ..

  5. holographoc

    lol, don’t be.

You can play two or three of JB, and Dame every minute of the game if you want.

  6. nebbywildcat18

torn on whether I’d rather just trade JB and probably Malcolm/pritchard for Dame (probably to a third team) and keep the depth we’d have. a top 7/8 of Dame/Derrick/Tatum/KP/Al/Rob/Hauser/(insert backup guard) is sick

    Elon should limit Marc’s account

  8. ChipotleGuacamole

Hopefully he goes somewhere soon so people can stop speculating and spreading rumors. The worst part of the NBA imo.

Lmao go to the Heat sub they are so bitter about this it’s hilarious

The problem with the 18-19 team is we had a bunch of guys who couldn’t accept their role… even though they were role players (Terry, mook, etc). Different situation.

Hard to say how much of an impact it would make tbh.

    * Guard depth: We can sign a vet min PG to play 3rd string over Banton. I’d take Dame + a Brad Wanamaker over Brogdon + Pritchard.

    * Wing depth: No real impact.

    * Big depth: I fully expect Horford and Porzingis to start, so this would mean losing Rob as a bench big and Kornet. That does sting, especially with the loss of Grant.

Would be honestly pretty hard to find a backup C.

    There are some options:

    1. If we’re getting Dame then we’ve been greenlit to use the Grant TPE. That means we can trade 2nds for a young PF/C on a rookie contract.

Isaiah Stewart, Jalen Smith, Jarred Vanderbilt or Precious Achiuwa.

Financially perfect for us, unfortunately I don’t think we’d have the assets for any of them, unless one of those teams wants Brogdon.

    2. We can sign a vet min C. Pretty slim pickings though.

    3. We hope Kabengele develops and we give him a roster spot.

People look for any reason to be anxious about this team (myself included, at times)! Let’s just say that Dame has never had team chemistry issues and Kyrie has rarely NOT had them…

Miami fans can be some angry ass people, man. I never saw their really ugly side until this.

  14. EdibleDionysus

A five of Lillard, White, Jaylen, Jayson, Porzingis would be unreal.

  15. Bostongamer19

Once he hits a logo 3 point shot playing for the Celtics the entire fan base will think Dame is a god and he will forget about not being the #1 on a team.

Boston has been starved for a good point guard.

  16. I hope not. Dame is not a championship guy in my opinion

  17. SmuglySly

Dame ain’t gunna be happy, we sure we would even want a disgruntled Dame? I sure as hell don’t. Hopefully we are just acting as a third party on that transaction

  18. SquimJim

    Here’s how I see it:

    – 5 roster spots for your starters: Dame/Brown/Tatum/Horford/KP
    – 3 for your playoff rotation: White/Hauser/Grant TPE (Stewart? Smith? Vando?)
    – 3 for regular season depth: ?/?/?

You can use the Grant TPE to get that combo 4/5 that the team needs. After that we are talking about vet mins to add for regular season depth. Kendrick Nunn? Javonte Green? Bismack Biyombo?

The depth isn’t ideal, but it wouldn’t be horrendous.

The #1 issue with the 18-19 team was that their highest-paid player was a complete negative/waste of cap space. People really overrate that team. That team was constructed for Gordon Hayward to be the centerpiece. What they got was 30 MPG of mediocre-at-best offense and bad defense from him – which also took shots/mins away from better, developing guys.

Everyone points to Kyrie’s disappointing Bucks series, but the fact is that that team was doomed from the gate because they were paying a guy a max contract who was a bad player.

I do see some similarities with this existing team to past disappointing teams though. If Porzingis gets hurt then this team will be right back to where they were when Kyrie/Hayward/Kemba were always hurting in the postseason.

I’d like to see BOS facilitate Dame to MIA where we get Anfernee Simons. That would feel like a big win if we just send out a bunch of those 2nd Rounders and MIA gives up the players.

  21. FrankieBarbingo

Dame doesn’t have donkey brains like Kyrie, though

  22. No need to worry about that. Celtics are not getting Lillard without trading Brown.

  23. Hogo-Nano

I mean I understand this perspective but if someone like Tatum or Brown was out for the season we’d probably be cooked regardless of if we had a solid 7th man or not.

  24. Machiniac

Dame all day. He’s not coming to Boston, but if he does, look out!

  25. mullethunter111

One major injury and you’re fucked

  26. TylervPats91

Christ, I knew the Patriots sub was like this, but is it just all Boston sports? Do Bruins and Sox’s fans post negative, gloomy, and pessimistic stuff all the time?

  27. thehospitalbombers

not to be that guy, but…….. wary*
