  1. Inevitable nostalgia. New CBA rules, all teams will adjust to those. Grant and Marcus great people and a lot of toughness, but it doesn't mean banner 18. More work needs to be done and see how new players like Walsh fit.

  2. I don’t get the lamentation of losing Grant. He’s at best an average player and the 8th man on the team. Get a grip

  3. People need to relax, the offseason is not over yet. The Celtics still have time to shape the roster.

My thoughts on Grant: He fell out of the rotation, he wasn't playing much anyway so why not get something in return for him. He can shoot 3s and defend to some extent but was exposed greatly in these last playoffs. He could not stop Jimmy Butler in big moments, he also choked at the free throw line when the game was on the line – "Imma make them both". Now, I am not saying he was the worst player we had but we can definitely improve at his position.

Overall, they are not much worse like people are claiming. The only key rotation player they got rid of so far has been Smart which they will miss because he was probably the only one willing to do the dirty work.

I strongly believe the team's identity this year will be a team that defends (which they went away from) and they will be a team less dependent on the 3!

  4. People are so quick to react. Brad isn’t even done making moves yet we’re lamenting the hell out of losing Marcus and Grant already.

  5. The problem is we don't know how Brissett, Banton, and Walsh rotate into the mix right now. And we don't know if Brogdon is staying. But right now the top 10 rotation players are Tatum, Brown, Horford, Porzingis, Williams, White, Brogdon, Hauser, Brissett, and Pritchard. Not as good defensively, but probably better (marginally) offensively. Banton, Walsh, and Davison get space to play, and Blake gets a chance to be a great mentor and locker room asset.

  6. Grant might be a big lost compared to smart specially on offense and remember he help us stop K.D and Giannis 😒

  7. First, this is a financial decision, no more no less. Second, I don't think we get 'worse', cos we are not that good to begin with and it's clear Stevens acknowledges that and decided to let certain players go and reshape the roster after we went 0-3 against Miami.

  8. Emergency podcast. Oh yeah, that's what we need after losing Grant Williams. I could barely sleep last night after hearing the news.

  9. Couldn’t afford Grant long term. Plus he’s too small for a big, can’t jump, couldn’t guard anybody in this years playoffs, lost a step on defense and was a wildly inconsistent 3 point shooter shooter. Time to try someone else off the bench.

  10. Grant is not a needle mover, period. This dude is so delusional. Keep your personal relationships with the players separate from the objective reporting. So cringe

  11. I wouldn't have sold Marcus smarth. I would have kept the whole squad from last year💚🏀☘️

  12. mm, there is an emerging pattern from the Celtics, if you play with a defense mindset you are free to go.

  13. Chris Forsberg and John Karalis are two of the voices I respect the most on Celtics-related subjects. Always rational, always knowledgeable.

  14. Come on man, your voice should not be breaking over losing Grant Williams – it is not that deep. Crying over Grant like he’s KG getting traded – crazy.

  15. I’m not a Boston fan but from the outside it looks like you traded your only two guys with heart in Williams and Smart.
