  1. He will be fine. The getting dunked on and crossover are the most empty stats ever.

Dude had 5 blocks (should have been six when the little guy ran into him and wemby swatted with his off hand, that wasn’t a foul) plus let’s say at least 4-5 defensive plays where he altered the shot or charlottes offense. That’s 22 points saved vs 4 points made. That’s not even close.

I’m more mad that the guards couldn’t get him the ball in better spots, but that’s expected with young guards who are not true pgs, and no time to develop team chemistry.

Only big point of criticism is no need for Wemby to try and do Tony Parker spin moves so much

I didn’t watch the entire game last night, but I loved what I saw. Wemby has the best handles for a 7-footer I’ve ever seen. He shares the ball. He’s not afraid to take shots. *He makes his free throws.* He plays again on Sunday, and I expect he’ll play much better on offense and have a much better FG percentage.

Defensively, he affects everything. He is just so tall and so long, that he influences anything that goes up near the rim. But he’s also quick enough on his feet that he could guard anybody on the court; there were a few shots the Hornets made because Wemby called a switch on a screen, and the other Spur got caught off guard and was late on the closeout. That’ll get fixed with more coaching and more chemistry.

Overall, I liked his decision-making and his playmaking. He’s 4/5 who was setting his teammates up for shots better than they were setting him up. That just speaks to his knowledge and instinctive understanding of the game along with his skill. This kid is the real deal.
