On an episode of ‘The Ringer’s NBA Draft Show’ from Las Vegas Summer League, The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor and J. Kyle Mann discuss what the young Blazers trio of Scoot Henderson, Shaedon Sharpe, and Anfernee Simons needs to be successful, especially if Damian Lillard gets traded.

Nice👌
Those Lobster Legs tho
I'm blazers fan but they will suck 4 5 year and I'm boycott this team since Joe Cronin Jody Chauncey careless about win blazers need too sell this team I stop my season tickets
The Blazers will never recover from choosing Scoot over Dame, and make no mistake, Jody Allen is boiled trash as an owner and this was her call. Blazers will be a laughingstock for the next 20 years.
The Portland situation is everything I hate about the draft.
Scoot doesn't deserve this.
Britney Spears is trying to meet Wembanyama and Scoot is thrown immediately into the Dame trade media circus.
Surely we can think of a better way for guys to begin their career
Where is the memphis member of the belly boys?
chodes
Blazers will be an exciting young team
I dunno about y'all, but I like a Scoot + Shaedon backcourt. I would look to trade Simons AND Lillard in order to get a real rebuild going.
🤣😂 All of these trash takes are going to look hilarious when the Blazers are perennially in the western conference finals in about 4 years. Besides, there’s a good chance Dame retires in a Blazer uniform, depending on how willing the organization is to facilitate his requests.
It feels like everyone has all of a sudden decided Simons is just whatever…
He’s really freaking good
Blazers just need a rim protector/rebounder who can stay healthy and then just more depth there as well. After that, I like the roster. Got a great defender like Thybulle on the second unit with some scoring talent too
Blazer about to rely on the 19 year old rookie in scoot to iniate half court offence at an high level 😂
Both will be superstars, with sharpe being the best on the team but both will be top guards in the league
Henderson is 6'4" not 6'2". And yes, they are trading Nurkic and Simons.
“You find an upgrade for nurkic which is not hard to do”
Apparently this is very hard for our GM 😅
Heat:
Dame, Nurkic
Wolves:
Herro, Jovic, Orlando Robinson, Heat ‘28 1st
Blazers:
Towns, Lowry, Heat ‘30 1st, Heat ‘29 Pick Swap
Heat get Dame & a very solid backup for Bam (Blazers finally get off Nurk)
Wolves get a dynamic young scorer in exchange for KAT, get a promising young Jovic, get to unclog the paint & let Jaden evolve
Blazers lock in a young center in his prime on a long deal & a champion veteran PG for Scoot to learn from. (Less picks than expected but made up for with talent. Makes Grant contract more worth the price if they can be a play-in team. Getting Dame to his preferred destination potentially encourages their new young core that this franchise will take care of them).
Scoot/Simons/Sharpe/Grant/Towns/Lowry
Conley/Herro/Ant/Jaden/Gobert/Slo Mo
Dame/Robinson/Caleb/Jimmy/Bam/Nurkic
you guys answered the question in the title in the thumbnail
It’ll be like the early 90s Blazers when they made their deep playoff runs every year
Such a difficult situation to navigate. all 3 guys have insane potential but there just is no way they can coexist with the minutes needed.
maybe if they promised to split their minutes exactly between the point and shooting guard spots then it could work. someone would still have to sit on the bench and that's a hard pill to swallow.
Blazers should call Detroit and ask who can they get? Duren? Wiseman? Bagley? Stewart?
Too short
somebody finally told KOC take that blazer off lol
Riding the bench probably, Portland has stopped being weird and started being weirdly stupid
Dame+Nurkic+2nd’s
↔️
Nic Claxton, Ben Simmons, Noah Clowney and Dariq Whitehead as two 18 year old one-n-dimes Dame said has no use for instead of Cam Thomas and instead of Spencer Dinwiddie on an expiring and Royce O’Neale on an expiring as valuable depth or pieces to move with a 1st attached to accumulate BIGs, and instead of all 4 1st’s Brooklyn has just take their 2 best so they can attach the other to two Dinwiddie and O’Neale expiring a for frontcourt help.
So we took Simmons off of your hands, you get to keep and surround Dame with a 3 & D core of Bridges 26 6’7/Cam Johnson 27 6’8/Cam Thomas 21 6’4/Dorian Finney-Smith 30 6’7, and if you really want you can take Simons. All we want in return is Claxton, for you to take Nurk, and the two-one and donee you don’t want anyways. Fair?
Jerami Grant is bad at defense. He has transitioned towards a 1 way offensive threat, with his 2 way player description lost somewhere in Detroit.
More Kevin and J.Kyle together please! They’re the most knowledgeable guys and it’s so much fun to watch them talk ball
Looks like poo
I've been saying this since the CJ days, but I wish the Blazers would have their score-first combo guard serve as a Super 6th Man a la Manu Ginobili. CJ could've filled the bill when he was with the Blazers and Simons certainly could now. As long as the minutes are there, then you're just optimizing your lineups to balance offense and defense. With Dame & CJ, they were both ball dominant scorers taking turns on offense while resembling turnstiles on defense and the same dynamic exists with Simons playing alongside Dame. The best play the whole time was to have CJ/Simons become a ball dominant Super 6th Man that picks up the scoring slack with a second unit while also being able to help close out games when the defense is taking out Dame as the first option. If Dame isn't traded and the Super 6th Man is implemented, your starting lineup is Dame-Sharpe-Thybulle-Grant-Nurk and your second unit features Simons mixed in alongside starters and top rotation guys. Your starting lineup has the potential to be much improved defensively while your rotation has a lot scoring punch and guys get more rest of the course of the season.
I would've preferred Anfernee Simons + Shaedon Sharpe + Amen Thompson. But, since everyone has forgotten about Anfernee I suppose he will get traded
You know what I think should happen? Dame should learn to play off ball. He is one of the best shooters in the league. Can you imagine him off ball with no defenders around him?
Love shaedon but he really needs to go to the g League. He's athletic but lazy af and doesn't open the floor up for himself. He needs a season in the g league. im probably one of his biggest fans, but he's lost out there, and he's had the experience so there isnt an excuse
