[Reynolds] Adam Silver on expansion, including Las Vegas chances: “We will turn to expansion once those new media deals are done. It’s not a sure thing, but as I’ve said before, I think it’s natural that organizations grow over time. … There’s enormous interest in this market.”

  1. Gee I wonder which way Adam $ilver will go on this one

LeBron really really wants to make Silver wait until he’s retired so he can own the Vegas team, in addition to owning the Raptors

  3. ChamberlainsFadeaway

They just waiting for Labron to retire so him & Floyd Mayweather can buy the team.

The pool of talented players in the league just continues to grow and grow every year, makes sense for some new teams to come in to accommodate them

there’s not enough *superstar* talent to support more teams without big changes to the supermax/max contract structure

  6. PragmaticPuppy

Lebron still doesn’t have enough money to be majority owner.
He will be minority owner/face of team.

So no news. Been hearing the same thing for years.

Surely they must have an idea of what the new media deals will look like by now. Expansion teams normally start 2 years AFTER they are announced. Unsure what the holdup is here.

They’ve been saying this for more than a decade. I don’t really see expansion happening before the end of this decade.

I always get bad vibes from Silver, when I see him doing interviews. Very shifty.

Vegas is the worst market ever why are teams so deadset on being in a small suburban city with no sports history outside of gameing

K // what media deals and when?

  12. MR___SLAVE

They need to add teams to Seattle and Vegas then move Memphis and Minnesota to the Eastern Conference.

  13. Simple-Ad-7866

Cool but bring back our Sonics Silver

  14. Academic-Donkey-420

Seattle and Vegas confirmed, can’t wait to have a rival again

James Harden: “I VOLUNTEER! I VOLUNTEER!”

I’d love it if the Vegas team had a special status in the league: no rookies, no drafting, trades, etc… the only way to join is to have 10years+ in the league and a certain number of all-star selections. You could go see all your heroes from the prior decade, so for example right now the team would have CP3, DRose, Blake, they just signed Brooke Lopez, probably Harden in a season or two, and Lebron is thinking about joining too.

We’d call them the Las Vegas Fat Elvises

    Come to Canada:

Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa, Calgary and Edmonton could all support NBA teams!!!

Adam Silver may have saved lives by shutting down the nba and bringing attention to covid. But his obsession with constant growth is weird and unsettling. They already outlawed defense and now they banned flopping, one if the last tools a defender had. The in-season tournament as a vindictive move to exact payback on college sports. Planning moves years in advance. It’s crazy. They don’t need an expansion they need to relegate a couple teams who don’t run it well.

  19. Vegas in the headline? Justice for Seattle. Bring back the Sonics

  20. theclownwithafrown

This comment section will be filled with the overly repeated “Memphis goes to the east” or something similar. It’s every expansion thread… Every time.

  21. Honestly, the NBA has never been more ready for expansion. The talent level is off the charts. There’s really no bad teams in the league anymore, even the worst ones have a lot of talent + really exciting players to watch. Almost every team is highly competitive, and very few teams aggressively tank…

It’d be great to add more teams to allow some more players are allowed to shine for new franchises.

  22. Rockface5

I think we are getting to a point where having two more teams will provide realistic opportunities for more players to really shine and also more room for salaries

  23. krypto9er

I’m curious once there is a Vegas team, will there still be as many events like summer league and in season tournament finals held in Vegas?

  24. HItide69

Just fucking do it already ! Vegas and Seattle let’s go !

  25. Sad-Mathematician-19

Would be great if Seattle and Las Vegas get introduced at the same time. Would allow Minnesota to be moved to the Eastern conference and join the central.
