[Mannix] Miami’s made an offer but I don’t think Blazers believe it’s the best Miami can & will offer. Around the league, as far as I know there haven’t been any firm offers for Dame. So Miami, somewhat smartly, my belief is they’re making some low ball offers to Portland

Well yeah. No reason to start high if you aren’t bidding against anyone

If Blazers wait until September then Orlando Robinson can be traded:

    Heat’s probable best offer is:

    – Herro + Martin + JJJ + Jovic + Highsmith + Orlando Robinson
    – All the draft picks + swaps

Salaries match and the Blazers don’t take on any bad contracts. Can’t do this until like September 29th though

Edit: I don’t think people quite understand the issue with salary matching in this trade. If you can’t trade Orlando Robinson, then you don’t match for Dame unless you include either Duncan Robinson or Kyle Lowry. If you’re the Blazers, you wait so you can take Orlando Robinson + Highsmith instead of one of Lowry or Duncan Robinson.

Blazers fans raging as their franchise icon finally goes to a competent franchise

Ok we can all stop the daily posting about Dame now. This going until at least September/October.

  5. GoldenBoyRecords

I wonder if the Blazers will drag this into the season and tell Dame to stay away from the team it would only put more pressure on Miami to up the offer

  6. Ace12773

Plenty of time to wait this out on our end imo

I just can’t believe no one is ready to pay that price for Dame. Mitchell, another guard, had a pretty robust market last year with the Knicks/Cavs. I know guard is a pretty saturated market, but I’m surprised no one wants an upgrade.

Even a 3 teamer could make sense. Boston gives up Jaylen Brown to a 3rd team, get Dame. Minnesota gives up KAT to a 3rd team, get Dame. The Minnesota one in particular solves their Gobert problem, gives them a player back that’s better than KAT that fits better with their roster.

Makes sense. One side is trying to maximize what they can get while the other side is trying to minimize what they have to give up.

I don’t blame Cronin for trying to get as much as possible from us, it’s his job. Both GMs are being stubborn for the sake of building up their team. I still do think ultimately Dame will come here once we concede more assets, but it could take a while.

Yep they will low ball it until at some point pressure will be on one party to get something done. I’m not sure when that is for Portland, they obviously don’t care if they suck this year but I doubt dame would sit out (despite what his agent implies with other teams) so it could become a big distraction in training camp also hurt development of their young assets since dame will take most minutes at pg. For Miami they might also be in a holding pattern with the roster because they don’t want to move salaries that may need to be included in an offer later. Also I don’t know how eager they are to get dame in and with the group because bringing him in later could also lead to chemistry issues. Maybe they don’t care and at some point just say we went to finals last year with mostly this same roster so we while Damian Lillard would be a nice upgrade we don’t need to do it. Then hope Portland eventually caves. Though that does bring in risk they could move him somewhere else eventually

Becz there’s no other team offering better so they play it low ball, if there could been any team trying to beat the Heat’s offer then this trade must been over since day 1

Is it really that smart to be making low ball offers, though? Portland really doesn’t have to do anything at this point. Dame is under contract for three more years. If they think that offers six months or a year from now won’t be any worse than the current offers, then they can just let him sit at home.

  12. MiamiFootball

We will not agree to you introducing Dame out of the back of a Cuban sandwich shop

  13. GlueGuy00

Pat Riley boutta pull the heist of the century lmao

  14. Cool fuck them and fuck Dame. He can sit his ass down at this point.

  15. Drawing_The_Line

Far less pressure on the rebuilding team to accept a bad trade than the contending team. Real question, why doesn’t Portland insist that any trade of Dame to the Heat requires Bam as a part of the compensation? Miami would never agree to the demand, but it shifts the blame to the Heat. “We’d be more than happy to send you to your team of choice, but they apparently don’t want you enough. Terribly sorry.”

  16. JJettasDad

No point in accepting an offer right now. Season is too far away.

  17. bigoof12344

Miami should’ve drafted Whitmore. Would’ve made their trade package a lot more appealing

  18. TurbulentJudge1000

Portland just needs to wait until the trade deadline. A major injury to a star could completely change the landscape of Lillard being traded. The worst thing that could happen is if Herro plays badly and tanks his value. The Heat definitely don’t want to wait until during the season to make a trade.

The Heat might be noticeably worse after losing 2 key players, and Duncan Robinson playing poorly again. They barely made the playoffs last year, and Butler is fairly old now. The Heat will be extremely desperate as this keeps going on. Portland has zero incentive to take a deal when it can only get better.

  19. [Mannix] “Miami is using fundamental trade negotiation tactics and Portland knows this”

  20. BillowingPillows

Dame for KAT is the trade that makes the most sense to me. Plus its a an opportunity to trade with Tim Connelly which is great for Portland.

  21. 1850ChoochGator

Likely not doing anything to get that extra pick and holding on to Jaquez or Jovic still.

    Yeah definitely not happening lol

  22. dudeyeah24

This is the smartest thing ever. Miami with some 4D chess shit. Who thinks to lowball? Brilliance

  23. tremble01

Sometimes it’s a dick measuring contest. At some point, Cronin, Pat and Dame will have to put theirs on the table and we’ll see who wins.

I think it’s obvious that Pat is the one who might blink first given the sense of urgency on their part. The kitchen sink offer is Kyle, Herro, Jaquez, Jovic plus salary filler and all picks and pick swaps possible for Dame and Nurkic. That’s what Cronin wants. But if I’m the Heat, my sphincters would tighten on the possibility of blowing my future for this version of the Heat. Jimmy and Dame are not young players anymore.

My guess, it’s going to be Kyle, Herro, Jovic/Jaquez (only one of them), fillers plus good picks and pick swaps but not all for Dame and Nurkic. Then they will find a third team for Herro for more future assets, possibly Spurs or OKC. I think it’s going to be OKC. Herro for fillers plus picks.
