I just hope Portland holds out long enough to force Miami to remove their protections on the pick they owe OKC. (OKC own Miami’s 2025 pick, top 14 protected. It converts to a 2026 unprotected if it doesn’t convey.) I believe they cant send 3 first rounders to Portland unless they do so.

This is also something that OKC has to approve as well. This might indicate why OKC is trying to sneak it’s way further into this deal so that they are able ti extract maximum value before they agree sign off on changing the protections.
Also I foresee that OKC would rather it change to simply a 2026 unprotected rather than 2025, making it so that Miami can trade their 2024, 2028, and 2030 first round pick.
I’m sure this was already offered to Portland, the problem is even then Miami still has garbage to offer. Why would they want Herro when they’re already top guard heavy that needs minutes and opportunity.
