[Kroichick] Curry clearly expects Warriors to keep Kuminga, and he expects “a lot out of him”. “It’s a challenge to figure out how to elevate your game and also fit within the system. I know JK is working hard this summer and trying to take the necessary steps to be part of a winning rotation”

If they were going to trade Kuminga, they would have attached him to Poole for a star. You don’t just trade Kuminga for another player making similar money.

Basically if he doesn’t perform he will be traded by the deadline – Wardell

Not like curry would say “ yeah if he doesn’t figure it out by the deadline we’re dumping him”. Think it’s pretty clear that if kuminga doesn’t break out he will be dealt. Warriors won’t want to have his salary or commit to an extension if they don’t feel like he is the guy.

I know it’s not Curry’s responsibility for what went down with the young guys but I think it matters to his reputation of being leader/mentor. A lot has been said about Drays poor vet leadership but in some ways that could be about Steph. I mean how can he be some great mentor for Scoot if he can’t at least make it work with a talent like Kuminga on his own team.

Recently saw Demar working out with his young guys in the off-season and made me think I don’t remember seeing anything similar with core. Not saying they haven’t already but Dray mentioned not knowing Kuminga after 3 seasons makes me wonder how much effort they tried to embrace the young guys.

Curry also said JP was eventually the heir apparent to him.
