All-in-one defensive stats are valuable, but lack context. For nuance, this is filtered to players whose defensive role was to be on-ball stoppers & includes matchup difficulty! Up=Plus Defensive Impact Down=Poor Impact Left=Guarding Scrubs Right=Guarding Stars WHAT STANDS OUT?

According to this, RJ is the third worst defensive guard/wing in the league.

  2. Monument2Ra

According to this RJ is trash and Quick is above mid in guarding card board cutouts

  3. Grimes lookin good on the right, but not on the impact which is odd

It also looks like IQ has been guarding 8th graders

We need to hold onto Grimes. RJ can’t take on those tough defensive assignments, IQ is a little small, Hart can but he’s not the shooter than Grimes is.

  5. That impact stats likely overrate Quickley, underrate Grimes.

Dort gets a lot of props for being “lockdown”/3 and D so it’s nice to see Grimes a bit above him. Definitely already a valuable role player to a contender (at 23 w/ a rookie deal too)

Quickley doing a good job guarding the worst guard on the opposing team lol, can’t blame him for doing well vs who he’s given to guard tho.

caruso lucky this doesn’t take into account number of times ankles were destroyed in the last second of a close game

  8. Grimes taking on the toughest matchups in the league, bar none, and he’s young. In a few years he’ll be up with Jrue and Caruso.

Shout out to DDV and Hart who are both in the upper left quadrant

Hart is hidden behind Marcus Smart in case anyone can’t find him
