We trust in Ime and he like us rockets fan know they need leaders in the locker room. Desperately.Van fleet for 2 yrs fit our timeline and our team. He can play lead guard with Jalen and off guard with amen and hopefully in 2 yrs those two can take over.

James’ Max is worth a good 10 more than fvv and it’s more of an Ime thing we just need a facilitator that can move off ball which James just doesn’t and still be able to go get other FA to fill other needs. We only need about 20-24 to go get a brook Lopez so he’s still very much in the cards with this max. giving Fred 40 stops nothing future wise on a 2 year he’ll be off the books when it’s time for extensions on top of the cap rising a good amount. Plus the new CBA actually rewards the 2 year deals so stone was ahead of the curve. Those 2 rookie deals aren’t going to magically give us no money to play with 😂😂 like I said the cap rises on top of having over 2x the amount of cap as the team in 2nd. Plus why not get a champion level guard to mentor amen which is the whole point of paying fvv tyus Jones doesn’t have the experience needed plus 3 2nds?? With the value they have in the new CBA go get Conley they’ll be paying ant soon and wouldn’t want him to walk freely

It’s not ruining a future it will be a 2 year contract. A expiring contract is valuable and after a year it’s expiring. You have to spend 90% of the cap

As a Rocket fan I’m not a fan of this contract at all, I would have preferred to spend that kind of money in the next couple of free agency approaching but I don’t believe this will hurt the Rockets future. It’s not like the Rockets are paying anyone outside of FVV any big money at the moment. And by the time his contract ends, we’ll be in a position to pay the other younger players like Smith Jr, Eason, Thompson, Whitmore, etc… if we don’t give out any other ridiculous contracts. I do hate giving him that extra year though, If this was a 2 year 80 million dollar deal, which is still a major overpay for a player of FVV caliber but I feel his contract would be easier to move if need be. Also getting Harden wouldn’t have made sense at this point with him opting back in to his contract. That means we would have had to trade assets such as players and picks which we don’t want to do right now, that would really be sabotaging our future. At least with VV we keep our assets and picks and he can step right in a be a vet that’ll know his role and won’t overstep his boundaries.
