It has been roughly two weeks since Damian Lillard has requested a trade. Specifically to Miami Heat, and nowhere else. What kind of a Heat fan **wouldn’t** be excited about this? When I saw Shams tweet I was jumping around. And ever since then, I’ve been checking Twitter feeds and Reddit waiting for Dame news, probably a bit too much.
If these constant checks only make you more excited, then I’m not stopping you. But if you ever get stressed over numerous reports saying different things or people’s opinion online saying such thing as ‘oh Heat has no dogshit to offer’, it might be a wise time to stop now, and let yourself come back when the trade actually happens.
History tells us this trade is very likely going to take months. On **June 30th, 2022**, Nets star Kevin Durant has requested a trade. Obviously the entire league was on its feet and waiting for a big news to drop, only to find out on **[Aug 23rd, 2022](https://twitter.com/BrooklynNets/status/1562092355754377219?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1562092355754377219%7Ctwgr%5Ebbaad74433689c4c4c66c074da029d2305c5bbe3%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nba.com%2Fnews%2Fnets-kevin-durant-agree-to-stay-together)** that Kevin Durant has decided to stay on the Nets. He was not traded until February of 2023. Another star, Donovan Mitchell, was made available to trade by Utah Jazz on [**July 12th, 2022**](https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1546972364348329985?lang=en). He was traded to the Cavs on **Sept 1st, 2022**. Each of these situations took approximately two months to be resolved, whether the star was traded or not. These two are not the only examples. James Harden had to wait until the season started to be traded to Brooklyn Nets. Our very own Jimmy Butler had to make a god damn mess on T-Wolves training camp, and STILL wasn’t traded until a month after the season started.
Woj, and even Joe Cronin himself have mentioned that the Blazers are willing to drag this thing out for ‘months’ if needed. The deadline we’re realistically looking at is training camp, which doesn’t start until late September. To be quite frank, they might drag this thing out even after the camp starts.
So, **tl;dr: this is gonna take a while, don’t stress over it too much on a daily basis**.

In a modern society so spoiled by instant gratification, it’s always nice to put things into perspective like this to bring expectations back down to earth. Thanks for this.
I know but I’m still gonna F5 daily like a mad dog

What a massive blueball event this turned out to be
Once Dame requested a trade, then made it clear he wanted Miami, I expected a deal to be worked out in a week or so and then I could just enjoy the offseason with no worries
Yet here I am still F5ing every day waiting
Definitely man. I just open the reddit app just to see if anything happened, not so much to see the reports but more to see if the deal is done. I do, however, want to see Nurkic trash the front office. Dame aint gonna do it but Nurkic can get real bitchy. That’s two disgruntled players on a team filled with youngins, I know they wouldn’t wanna deal with that circus.
I feel like this should be said about all sports not just the Heat and the Dame trade. We all love rooting for our squad, and being a part of the community that sports fandom provides, but please don’t take it so seriously that it starts to really affect your mental health!
If this affecting your daily life please seek medical help because that is not healthy.
Ive increased my reddit time by double. Too busy with the F5
Don’t let anything with sports affect your daily lives.
Why would that affect anyone’s lives ? Lol if it does then you need a break
Does this actually affect your daily lives? Lmao. I’m just honestly curious because all I do is just f5-ing a few times during breakfast and go on my usual routine for the day then f5-ing a couple of times before sleeping. All the important shit will be upvoted in front page anyway no need to dwell deeper on some opinion stuff by the media or argue all day long about how much better Herro is against Maxey all that nonsense lol.
Just operate like a simple flow chart. Is Dame traded to the Heat yet? No then do your usual shit for the day. Is Dame traded to the Heat yet? Yes then login and talk shit 24/7. That’s just how it goes lmao
You forget who you’re talking to…
Need I remind you of how the average heat fan on here experiences heat basketball:
* 1 loss – this team is garbage
* 1 win – champions baby
* Lose lead – fire spo
* Don’t sign a free agent (ANYBODY) – fire Riley
* Losing streak – Mickey sell the team!!!
There’s no rationality to be found here….the people who are frantically F5’ing this sub have no reference of time even if you spell it out in plain English…they’re just expecting things to happen right now…..right now…..right now….right now
