I think barring injuries he will still play at least 65 games this season. I think the team isn’t going to hinder his shot at getting some season awards.

Very little source reliability there however sitting away back to backs is a good move imho. Also I’m wondering if the NBA will try and limit those for us to have more Vic on the floor time. I still think they try and reach 65 games which is a good amount for year 1

I’ll believe the load management thing when I see it. Everyone mythologizes our use of it but pop hasn’t been afraid to throw healthy young guys into the fire as of late
I think his per game minutes will be managed and perhaps he’ll sit an occasional back to back, but I would be shocked if they hold him out of the average game when he’s healthy.
That’s not something he’s going to want, nor do I think it’s the best way to manage him short-term or long-term. You can create a long-term plan without resting a healthy player

I believe it will all depend on how Wemby acclimates to the NBA game style. If Wemby seems lost out there it might be a good idea to let him sit out before he tries to do too much and gets injured. I’m sure Pop will let him play if his game is ROTY worthy.

He has to get in NBA shape. Not all that surprising.

Their sources are “executives and scouts from around the NBA”. Not anyone actually from the Spurs org. Most articles that get written up about the Spurs are literally just repackaged opinions from other people who also have no more insider information than we do.

Load management been debunked at this point. It doesn’t reduce the risk of injury at all, other than you can’t get hurt on the bench. It doesn’t protect players. I understand using it for older players who have a million miles on them, I guess, but it’s a useless safety precaution.

He already said weeks ago that he wants the exact opposite, so I’ll just wait until the season starts and see what happens.

And I hear he’ll hit the bench anytime Zara enters the building. Nooooope, not again!

“according to sources within the NBA”…. so yeah, basically just speculation at this point. I don’t care either way. I trust the Spurs and Wemby to do what is best for both of them long-term, and as a fan, personally, what I want is what they want. I’m going to watch the games and buy stuff and sport the team regardless.
