[Quinn] News on the Christian Wood front, via Marc Stein: the Mavs are open to participating in a sign-and-trade. | My sense is that the Lakers would NOT value Wood enough to go above the minimum or trade someone. However, the Lakers could go above the min by offering Jarred Vanderbilt.

This would be extremely stupid. Vando would make a much bigger impact on the Mavs than wood would with us. Vando works so well with the Mavs roster

  2. My sense is that this is ridiculous. That is not even a report. There is no need to talk about it.

  3. Swaggyzilla69

I’m in favor of getting Wood ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), but not trading Vanderbilt for him

  4. AdVegetable9992

Why would lakers do that? If he is not available, go get biyombo

  5. KyrieWetUpCurry_

Vando has a new deal coming up and I don’t think he’ll command more than $10M a year. He’s still 24 so he’s realistically still on an upward trajectory.

Invest in him and hope he can be an effective spot up shooter sooner than later. At worst, he’s a good trade chip.

No way…. Vando is our primary lockdown defender for next season.

  7. stutterhouse

Christian Wood is only a nice add at zero cost.

  8. isit65outsideor

Wood can sign with the Lakers at zero costs of a trade. He doesn’t provide defense nor rebounding, but he could have a nice spark of offense off the bench.

  9. rjaysenior

Wood would make load managing Davis a lot easier during the regular season, but vando was a difference maker in the Memphis series even tho he was situational/matchup based. I’m honestly torn because I could see wood being productive offensively off the bench if both bron and AD had to sit. If anything id love to see a Wood and Vando combo out there

Marc Stein is a fair reporter but has Dallas roots. This is from Mark Cuban’s side. Why would we even consider this now? Maybe at the trade deadline next year. Loading up on athletic wings who have proven themselves defensively like Vanderbilt is a necessity with an aging LeBron. And he’s still developing. Heck no to trading Vanderbilt for Christian Wood. He’s a player Dallas would love to have.

Let’s not get back to the 2021/22 season types of moves. Keep talent close, keep our stars healthy, cause Wood isn’t moving the needle in the west. Plus I’d rather bet on Vando finding a shot than Wood changing his attitude. Plus it’s just conjectures made by reporters on the internet, Big Rob don’t care about them 2k proposals.

  12. MediumBaller_

this is not even a report guys he is just saying that vando is the only salary slot that would match an s&t

  13. Trading a young and potentially long term player for a questionable center who’s seeking bigger contracts? Please no!

  14. Pfft… Only if that trade includes several unprotected first rounders from the Mavs.

  15. I’m not totally against it man. Vando isn’t really that good of a fit offensively with Bron & AD, and Wood actually gives us a floor spacing 5 to pair with AD. As good as Vando is defensively, I think we can actually cover for him this year with Rui, Christie and an AD that can roam with Wood on the court

  16. thevisitor

Of course the Mavs would want Vando that boy clamped the crap out of Luka lol.

If its through a sign and trade then no I dont want Wood. Go hit up biyombo and call it an offseason.

  17. Plus would a s&t hardcap LA? They wouldn’t possibly hardcap themselves for Wood…

  18. CabbageStockExchange

There’s no market for Wood. Why trade for him? If you want him just sign him for the vet min. Why would we send a player that helps Dallas for a guy we could get on a min? This is stupid

  19. Lucieddreams

I am not ready to get hurt again, this would be so unbelievably stupid. Vando brings energy and effort and positive vibes and Christian Wood brings the exact opposite. Minimum only and if we don’t get him we don’t get him

  20. No-Equipment-20

Wood for the vet-minimum is good value, but I’m not giving up anything more

  21. brownmansburdencom

I’m much higher on wood than most of yall but holy fuck who do the mavs think they are. Like how does this make sense for us in the slightest. Vando is an anchor, they have no leverage, we have no desperate desire. Shit is comedy

  22. ILackPatience

Guys this is just Stein’s speculation.

  23. Pirateshippingit

The only way lakers would even think about this if they think that they won’t be able to or don’t want to extend Vando but even then doesn’t make a lot of sense. I doubt this would happen but it better not. They should do what they can to extend vando which I think they will.

Honestly idk if the mavs can pull off a sign and trade. The market doesn’t seem to be there for wood so most teams probably would rather take the risk and just try to sign him for a vet min than give up anything of value and maybe end up paying him more than a vet min too doesn’t make sense.

  24. Definitely in the minority here, but Id have no issue doing this deal. Vando’s minutes are about to fall of a cliff and the Lakers desperately need another player that can play the 4/ position.

  25. counterfeit_jesus

Has anyone here actually seen Biyombo play? The guys trash

  26. BlackberryGlad7249

Nah the guy is unreliable on jump shots and isn’t a better defender. I hope this doesn’t happen. Vanderbilt was clutch in the playoffs and during the regular season. If they work on him he could develop his shot

  27. Nightmare4545

Who cares what the Mavs are open too? He either comes for the min or we are passing.

  28. Catocards22

Lol no way the trade vando for wood. Wood is a minimum guy at this point. He has to prove he’s a winning player.

  29. SadAccountant_23

In what world does this make sense for the lakers?

  30. ablackcloudupahead

Offering Vando to sign Wood is stupid and I hope not really in consideration. Dude will probably take the minimum, if not there are other bodies available. Vando is a huge contributor and with Dennis gone, our best guy for chasing ones through screens

  31. DarkPalkion

I trust 24 yr old defensive phenom like Vando to develop an outside shot than Wood fixing his attitude and giving an effort in defense in his 9th team in 10 years.
