MAJOR REPORT: Mavericks Landing Clint Capela In BLOCKBUSTER Trade? Josh Green Contract Extension?



Mavericks trade rumors surrounding Clint Capela have resurfaced after NBA Insider Marc Stein reported that the Mavs would like to be a third team involved in a Pascal Siakam trade that would send Siakam to the Atlanta Hawks, Capela to the Mavericks, and DeAndre Hunter & Tim Hardaway Jr. to the Toronto Raptors. The Mavericks are reluctant to put Josh Green in any trade, and are reportedly preparing to open contract extension talks with Green.

Marc Stein on the latest Dallas Mavericks rumors:
“You can safely presume that the Dallas Mavericks are rooting for Atlanta to win the trade race for Toronto’s Siakam … and that they’re also hoping such a trade features Hawks center Clint Capela as opposed to a strictly De’Andre Hunter-centric deal. Capela has two seasons left on his current contract valued at nearly $43 million. The Raptors would appear to have little need for a pricey center after re-signing Jakob Poeltl this month to a four-year deal worth $78 million, so a theoretical trade of Siakam to the Hawks that features Capela would open the door for Dallas to join the trade as a third team or pursue a separate deal with Toronto for Capela.”

    I 100% would not be open to move holmes if we get capela. Just cut mcgee and run capela holmes and lively as the rotation bigs and let powell be udonis haslem. I do not wanna see powell touch the floor unless its a blow out. We'd have a great big man rotation if we keep holmes

    Wouldn’t trade Green straight up for Capela. He’s clearly a more valuable player and a more important position. Roll with Lively and Kleber and try to get one of Detroit’s good young centers. They have three of them lol…..

    If the land Capela, please cut Powell and McGee as quickly as possible. Capela needs to make a jump and Mavs might be his best spot to do so

    T definetly! That starting 5 with Capela instead of Holmes is safe good enough for over 100 ppg and stronger in defense with wiliams on ball and capela as a rim protector. there is also maxi kleber.

    No way I’m trading a young Josh Green whose so far has improved every season he’s played for a 30 year old Clint Capela who maybe has a year or two of prime left if that.

    4/60 is not bad for Green, but if you don't extend then you've got to trade right now and not wait. He will only improve given minutes during next year and will ask for 70 if not more.

    Josh green should be 4/45 mil. He’s overrated, should not be making close to what grant Williams makes

    I would give Josh Green the same contract we gave Grant Williams. I think that’s fair. If he takes another leap next season, we got a steal. And if he doesn’t at least you extended him to a reasonable contract that could easily be tradable in the future. What we cannot afford is to wait for him to have a breakout season and watch his price tag double in value or watch another team extend him a ridiculous offer sheet that we could not match.
