Give him the 5 year max, no option. Not putting up with bullshit after two years of him asking out.

I love Jaylen but he should be thanking his lucky stars he made all-nba given the amount of injuries this season.

He has all this extra money in front of him. Hopefully he does the right thing and takes it and not try and negotiate a player option.

jaylens dribbling has become our version of hardens defense. bad but not as bad as ppl think bc they just watch lowlight videos on their TL

His handle could use work still, but ppl forget that he also played through a left wrist injury smh

    Both people are just right.

The league has created contractual tools for teams to pay their star players to stay, it creates fewer free agency moves by stars and fewer mid-level contracts. We are in the contract extension metagame.

His value he’s shown as a player is not the veteran max (50-60mil). From the team’s perspective, if you don’t give him that contract you open up massive cap room that you can’t trade to fill and there are no free agents available who are worth exactly $30mil. You overpay Jaylen to stay and then as the contract goes, the raises to the salary cap will gradually make the contract reasonable.

If you are a Celtics bloomer, you might also be projecting Jaylen getting significantly better, but handling is a relatively sticky skill and passing is a very sticky skill, and those are where he struggles in the late playoffs where defenses are excellent. His strength and shooting will realistically improve.
