I don’t think they are screwed. Worst case scenario is they stay status quo and are rewarded with massive cap space next summer and finally have financial flexibility to do some things. Their situation right now isn’t perfect, but you could be in worse situations than that. And with or without Harden, you’d think as long as you have Embiid and Maxey and if Nurse makes a difference they still win 47 games minimum and could still get to 50. Probably not title contenders, but not disaster territory either. And let’s be real, barring something unforeseen, they probably weren’t going to win a title next season anyway. At the very least, there’s some light at the end of this tunnel of financial hell. Let’s see what they do with it, Morey’s words yesterday strongly suggested that’s the plan.

If you can build up the energy to let your mood get affected by each little report that comes out, I’d just recommend taking a step back idk. It’ll either figure itself out or it won’t.

Problem is there really isn’t any good free agents next year so we need assets and high salary players to trade

It’s July. Everyone is posturing hard. Focus on anything else but the Harden trade talks right now because the league is about slow to halt until the end of September when camp starts. Screwed is we get to trade deadline time and the team is slumping and there are still no real deals on the table.

It’s like some of you want them to be screwed. Jesus just enjoy basketball.

Morey was literally talking about starting Melton the other day. We’re absolutely fucked

The NBA season starts on October 24.
I feel like this sub needs to go outside and get some fresh air for the next couple months and then we can all get back to the fretting and self-flagellation once Fall hits.

even if we’re screwed (we’re not) we have maxey and bball paul and that in itself is a joy.
i feel like when the dust settles we’ll somehow end up with either OG or Siakam and although OG is a better fit i’d be more than happy with either.

This article reveals no insight or analysis that we didn’t already know lol. It’s just the situation of the team, it’s by no means terminal

TLDR: It doesn’t matter…
I think we make the playoffs next year as long as we still have Embiid and Maxey. …and we’ll stay in the playoffs until Embiid’s performance drops to average.
The issue is sixers fans haven’t seen the finals since Iverson, and haven’t had a ring since the 80’s. Most of us realize your core needs to play together for a couple of years before they “click” well enough to even compete at that level.
So the options are to ride out Embiid’s contract while plugging in rando’s on one year deals around him until the team flat-lines, or blow it up, trading everything of value for players that fit the new system, and the flexibility to build a championship level team down the road.
Nobody wants a “process 2.0” but this team has been top-heavy with no supporting talent, ever since Silver sabotaged the original process. And ownership has little incentive to change course because 1) the commissioner slapped their hands for hoarding firsts, and 2) we keep giving them money.
