@Es Baraheni I think masai has to make a more difficult decision than you realize. The choice is trade siakam or trade og anunoby. og anunoby hired a new agent specifically to demand more shots and ball handling duties for him to resign with the raptors next season. og is not gonna extend, he makes too little to extend at the new cba 140 percent offer the raptors can offer og. og can only get 25.2 million under the cba rules. if he opts out next summer he can make alot more. how much more, i think jerami grant getting an average of 32 million a year for 5 years. og is better than grant so that is the bottom floor which he wont accept. you are looking at likely og asking for 35-43 million a year. also factor in the pacers are said to creating 40 plus million a year in cap space to sign an elite 3 and D wing next summer in the off season. if you sign siakam, you cant sign og. as scottie barnes has an early rookie max extension, gary trent jr has a new contract where if he does well he is gonna want 35-30 million a year, precious achuiwa is gonna want 10 million, and a few others. raptors will be in luxury tax and mlse wont pay it.
so the reality for the raptors is trade siakam or trade og. basically siakam is forcing a complete rebuild as its likely og is gone next year if siakam is extended. then og must be traded, and then siakam in 2 years. if masai is dumb enough to roll the dice again and bring siakam back in hopes no one gives og a number raptors cant match, he is quite stupid and likely be fired, as masai's job security is said to be not as secure currently. raptors lost fred for nothing, and hoping some team doesnt offer og a contract that raptors cant match when every team wants him is delusion.
@Es Baraheni if you trade siakam, you have to realize one thing, raptors are in rebuild. so if you are trading siakam you are not taking back older players not in scottie barnes time line. so raptors will be looking for young players and picks. what can they get for a siakam in on an expiring contract, at least an unprotected pick or two and a young player and filler. so no bulls trade cuz they got no picks.
pacers they got the picks so i think if they get buddy hield, theis and nemhard and 2 picks, they take that. hield they can flip to another team or wait at trade deadline and flip him for a 1st round pick at least. or they can let hield expire.
from hawks they dont have an unprotected pick so it will have to be 2 young players at least and filler.
hawks extended or traded for players so patty mills and bojan cant be traded till september even though trade machine has not updated. but salary makes it difficult because those players are not available.
now hawks want to trade deandre hunter, clint capella and the kings 2024 pick for siakam. raptors wont take that because they are rebuilding and dont need hunter or capella. but salary wise if okongwu is not in the deal there is no way to do a deal unless hawks send a bazillion young guys to raptors.
the only trade possible with a rebuilding raptors team is deandre hunter , okongwu, one of aj griffin or bufkin and sadiq bey. and kings pick. reason it has to be this is because hawks have no unprotected pick in near future. keep in mind sadiq bey is filler at this point, i dont count him as one of he young players raptors want. there is only 3 players raptors would want on the hawks in this trade that they can 2 of, and its okongwu , griffin and bufkin. if you dont include okongwu the deal to make the money close is clint capela, aj griffin, bufkin, jalen johnson and sadiq bey.
now the hawks have been talking to raptors for about 2 months now, in order to do that i assume the two parties would have to be close or they wouldnt be talking. they would be too far apart. so they have to have a basic framework agreed upon to have been talking for this long and its not deandre hunter and clint capella and the kings pick for siakam.
its likely deandre hunter as the hawks wont trade both their centers as filler.
the center piece is likely okongwu as he has to be in there for the salary and one of bufkin or aj griffin. i believe its bufkin.
so deandre hunter, okongwu, bufkin and sadiq bey gets you to 36.8 million for siakam making 37.8 million. the kings pick in 2024 is just a sweetener that can or cant be in there.
then why is it taking so long? likely because bufkin cant be traded till august 2, and they are trying to find a 3rd team to move deandre hunter to, as they dont need him and he wont start.
now if siakam trade cant be done, then siakam is extended and og is traded guaranteed because the chance is too high og walks for nothing. and siakam is traded in 2 years and raptors are in a full rebuild.

@es baraheni i cooked up this massive blockbuster on the trade machine. keep in mind this is the only way raptors who are rebuilding take a deandre hunter clint capella package for siakam, they will will ask for 2 young players in aj griffin and kobe bufkin, this way hawks keep okongwu. salaries match up as closely as I could for raptors hawks and mavericks, and with 1 million for heat, and 2 million for blazers.
raptors get tyler hero, aj griffin, kobe bufkin and olivier max prosper or jaden hardy
hawks get pascal siakam and tim hardaway jr
heat get damian lillard and malachi flynn
blazers get deandre hunter, duncan robinson, patty millls, nicola jovic
kings 2024 pick via hawks
heat 2027 unprotected pick
heat 2029 unprotected pick
heat 2026 swap
heat 2028 swap
heat 2030 swap
mavericks get clint capella
