Mitch thinks Lamelo is going to will the team to the playoffs, and then JT Thor, Kai, and Bouknight are going to play lights out against Giannis, Embid, and Jimmy, and it will all be worth it. Also, Gordon scores 25, 10 assists and the game winner in game 7 of the finals.
I think that they are a playoff team, possibly top 4 in the east if Gordon Hayward plays at an all star reserve level, or Brandon miller is in contention for rookie of the year

I did disagree with your opinions, somewhat, during this episode.
I do understand that the East has gotten better, and that is a huge factor, but any of the teams you mentioned who should be above the Hornets in the East next year may run into their own injury problems (or other problems: see Ja Morant), as well. In fact, I would bet that one or two of those teams do have significant personnel problems throughout the year.
I'm also basing this on the fact that we were in 4th place, if I'm not mistaken, 2 years ago late into the season with both Hayward and ball healthy.
That wasn't a fluke. They were a good, exciting, young team who were beating people, and showing up at the end of games. Then, Hayward got hurt; then LaMelo got hurt, and we ended up getting our ass handed to us in the play in game.
It will take a leap for them to make the playoffs, either as a 6 seed or through the playin, but that is what Cup Check (Not looking up how to spell that) is betting on, and could definitely see it happening. I certainly don't think it's preposterous.
I don't disagree with you at all that it is completely F'ing maddening and self-defeating that we refuse to even try to make big or even moderately big moves in free agency or through trades, but I think there is enough talent on this team to make a legit run at the playoffs this upcoming season.
A lot has to go right and players have to improve this off-season and stay healthy.

Plenty of talent to be a playoff team. The question is and has always been health. We aren't good enough to lose multiple starters and still expect to be that.

This team doesn't look like a play-off team, the talent that they have won't even make them past the Semi Finals, let alone the 1st round.
For some reason they think "running it back" is the only way but realistically they don't have the luxury to be running back. Their acting like they just got done winning 60 games💀.
At best, i see this team trying to maintain a 7th or 8th seed…I don't know much about a 6th or 5th seed but hey they could surprise me just like Sacramento🤷🏽♂️. But until then….nah I don't see them making the play-offs let alone advancing the play-offs. Their a 1st Round exit team imo🤷🏽♂️.
You are not going to hit every draft pick guys… Team needs to be healthy – if PJW comes back, and we dont have injuries, Charlotte has a decent young team to compete for a 7th or 8th playoff spot in the east – you got 9 Solid Players: Lamelo (23-24 pts), Rozier(17-19pts), Miller(12-15 pts), Bridges (15-18 pts), Mark (10-12 pts), Hayward (10-12 pts), PJW (10-12 pts), Cody (6-8 pts), Nick Richards (4-6 pts) – then with a lesser role players like Thor, McGowens , Nick Smith Jr, Amari, Kai Jones will play garbage minutes – I dont think Charlotte will be as bad as people think, my guess is 40-42 win team
This current Hornests roster is not a play-off team. If they get healthy, they can a 9th seed.

2 years ago they won 43, last year with bridges and less injuries, maybe 43 to 47 wins.
This year, Cliff will preach D, Williams will improve, mello improves, bridges back in action…Gordon stays healthy, Miller contributes…..43 to 48 wins and somewhere between 6 and 10 seed. You have to account for growth of these young players.
