Not offering him an extension is just weird.

  2. Raptorsthrowaway1

This is really concerning. Waiting until next off-season to arrange an extension is a huge and unnecessary risk. Imagine if Siakam walked for nothing….

If they dont like whats out there, sign him to the max extension which sounds like Siakam will sign immediately. Roll into next season and see what Darko can do. If this team is still a play-in team, you explore offers for Siakam with three years left on his deal.

Why would Siakam sign an extension if we’d end up trading him?

I’m on the team that we should trade him but if his value isn’t high now, why not extend him and trade him later? Every second they wait to extend means we have to wait longer into the season to trade him which = less Scottie touches.

Seems like these guys can’t make up their damn mind

  4. SDAisaleaf

Pretty typical of Masai’s/Bobby’s work lately. Unable to commit to a direction, they’re just going to wait it out and be forced to make a suboptimal move out of desperation

  5. ImmaFunGuy

Ah so we going into FA again? That worked so well the past 5 times

  6. What_Huh_

This offseason is a shit-show. This is what can happen when you wait too long to make decisions on key players. I know this is easy for me to say as just a fan but front offices get paid big money to foresee and plan the direction of a franchise. I don’t see how they’re going to sell this current product to the fans for next year.

  7. ExtremeNo1952

I’d rather have not much for Pascal than absolutely nothing

  8. OG_anunoby3

Masai has lost the touch. He needs to step down, take some time off to clear the mind and then get a fresh start with another franchise.

  9. OG_Wan_Annunoby

Doesn’t seem like the FO is refusing to extend him, it sounds like Siakam is still deciding whether he wants to extend in Toronto or try for the supermax.

  10. Sensitive_Potato5128

Pascal is going to walk for nothing next summer

  11. Homebrewz

Reading these comments makes me hate our fanbase so much

  12. for the love of god can we please stop linking aggregators and start linking the original sources lol

  13. Beneficial-Luck-5078

I guess they learned nothing from Fred’s situation

  14. RoysRBoy

Nothing will happen until Lilard is traded.

  15. FalseZookeepergame15

First off Josh Lewenberg isn’t the greatest insider. Remember his impression was that Fred wouldn’t leave for Houston based off his sources…..Then Fred left for Houston lol.

Still Masai and Bobby cannot do this again where when the tide goes out they’re the only ones not wearing pants like this offseason.

Not sure how much better deals are going to get the longer this goes on considering Siakam is an expiring contract. Considering the punitiveness of the new CBA it’s going to be harder to keep talent and getting the value that you want out of a trade.

  16. savethearthdontbirth

Do not wait till next year to extend. We will lose another star player for nothing.

  17. Eastern-Technology84

Waiting until next season would be the ultimate dumb ass move

  18. Cheechers23

If the offers suck for Pascal then fucking extend him. He’ll have more value next year with term on his contract than he does now as an expiring.

My only guess for why they aren’t extending him is because they’re concerned it could make OG not want to stay.

  19. Front-Screen7474

I don’t know why there is so much drama around Siakam. It should just be simple, offer him a max extension now and if he signs it great, if not then look to trade him. If we decide to eventually blow it up he will be worth a lot more next off-season with long term contract. Plus we’d be better off to try a rebuild after this season is over if that’s the direction to go in.

  20. Economusings

TLDL Lewenberg doesn’t know shit and needs to pretend he does for the sake of relevance

  21. SubstantialBody6611

No need to extend now. If the Raptors like what Siakam does this season and the playoffs, he gets paid. If not, he should get traded at the deadline.

  22. Massive_Secretary658

Trade him for pennies and lets get the 10+ year rebuild started. This shit is getting ridiculous. He isn’t a max player. Tickets will sell with or without siakam. Hes not box office. FO are all smoking crack and a lot of people in this sub are still drinking masai’s kool-aid

  23. AngryHelicopter

Neither trading him nor extending him is the *worst case scenario*. God damnit.

  24. fredvancleef

every outlet is “raptors want to get this done sooner rather than later”

now its “nowhere near either direction”

    yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  25. Right-Bench4488

Come on Raptors, don’t leave Siakam hanging like a rejected high five! Give that man an extension!

  26. ComplaintFantastic41

Maybe they don’t like the offers because other teams know the Raps have painted themselves into a corner.

  27. Ecstatic-Buy-2907

There are a few possibilities here

    1) Siakam to Atlanta is already a done deal – they just need to wait for Bufkin to be trade eligible

    2) (I think the most likely outcome) Siakam doesn’t want to sign an extension, he wants to do whatever he can to lower his trade value so he can stay while also giving him a shot at the supermax

    3) The FO just hasn’t offered it to him

Given how secretive the FO operates, and because I believe they aren’t completely incompetent, I’d say option 2 is most likely, followed by option 1. The reporters seem to be going off what other reporters say, and not direct sources

  28. RichardIraVos

Honestly would be happy if we keep him. Good mentor for Scottie to continue to learn from to expand his offensive game

  29. Novel_Goal3140

So nothing has changed. Good to know.

  30. Yeah, no shit the Raptors weren’t interested in the shitty Hawks trades.

  31. jeRskier

Hmm, I mean, I get he wants a chance at Supermax and any rational player would. But 4/192 is fair value and would be really hard to turn down.

  32. larrylegend1990

I wasn’t for it last season, but maybe cashing out on all the old players and tanking for Wemby was the right path.

  33. YeeTarnished

If we miss the playoffs and Siakam walks for nothing that’s going to be the end for Bobby and Masai.

  34. Friendly-Target8815

If he’s not signing an extension this off season, they risk losing him for nothing. No great offers… you risk injury and weaker offers come trade deadline.
Pascal takes the same injury risk not taking an extension now.

  35. OG3SpicyP

The Raptors FO doesn’t like fucking anything ever offered for anybody in the history of their roster.

Take a reality check on some of these people and pick a goddamn direction already. Team has been horribly managed the last few years.

  36. DrMaestus

Let’s stay mid. Masai new goal is mid and letting free agents walk.

  37. WonderfulTie

The time they paid him early and handcuffed themselves. So might as wait until later in the year.
