I don’t get the flack. Wade had slightly more ppg, but slightly worse VORP, in the same number of seasons. They’re pretty much a toss up IMO.
I love Pierce but Wade is close to top 25 all time Pierce is more 45-50 all time
I’m a realistic and fair person. The reality is Wade was a top 5 player for almost half a decade . His peak he was 3rd in MVP Voting & DPOY and won the scoring title all together in 2009. He was 2x first team all nba.
He carried the heat in the 2006 finals. Shaq was averaging 13 and 10. He was finals MVP at like 23/24
He was a superstar. Pierce was a star . I don’t think he was top 10 more like top 15
If Pierce had said he’s up there with melo (who I think he’s slightly better than career wise) sure that’s cool but Wade was a legit superstar and was 18 votes away from being runner up MVP in 2009

Paul is the textbook definition of the “eye test” bc I understand the ppl that simply look at his accomplishments…but if you wasn’t there watching him on a nightly basis then you probably wouldn’t get it
Saw both in their primes live from very close up over many seasons/playoff battles and there is no single universe where Dwyane Wade was a better player than Paul Pierce. I don’t care what the numbers say, Wade was kiss ass who pretended to be nice and was a dirty sack of shit. This is all media narrative garbage. Pierce was a dog and he was just as good, if not better than all the clowns who they heralded over him.
I mean I think Wade had a higher peak and similar longevity. Pierce is an alltime great Celtic but he was not as good as Wade unfortunately.
Two different roles/careers so it’s a bit hard to compare. Like Pierce said I would’ve like to see how he fared with better talent beside him in the 90s and 2000s. He would probably have 2/3 rings.
I think Carmelo is a more fair comparison when you compare for the talent level of their teams
I loved the Truth and I’ll say that he is generally underrated due to his perceived lack of speed, but the homerism has run amok in this thread. Wade was absolutely a better player than Pierce and you wouldn’t have found anyone arguing otherwise while they played. Hate Wade all you want, but he was consistently a top 5 player in the league. Better defender, better scorer, and a better game manager. And no, that doesn’t mean Pierce wasn’t great at those things.
