Jaylen Brown signs $304M supermax contract extension with Celtics, per report | CBS Sports

Jaylen Brown has agreed to a five-year, $304 million supermax extension with the Boston Celtics, according to Shams Charania. The deal — the richest in league history — will be fully guaranteed and include a trade kicker, but the final year will not include a player option, according to Charania. Brown, whose last contract was below both his max and his market value, became eligible for a supermax extension once he earned All-NBA honors this season.

  1. terrible deal! I agree he is borderline top 20 player… Celts are going to be bad next year, you'll see…

  2. Wow, he's not even the top 5 best player in the league but will average almost 70 million at the end of his contract! There might be two player's worth 50 million a year and LeBron and Irvin aren't on that list imo! This is going to be an ugly scenario going forward with player's who believe to be better than Brown! If I'm not mistaken thos contract is fully guaranteed 😮

  3. This is great, there bringing back JB the Celtics just need a true point guard and this team will be Dangerous even wt poor decision making Joe muzzula! LET GO Celtics 🍀 🏆 🔥

  4. I'm happy for him, but I'm sorry he is being overpaid. Nikola Jokic is making $270 million. Giannis is making $228 million. Both of those guys are the undisputed best players in the league and the best players on their teams. Certainly better than Jaylen Brown, who may not even be the best player on the Celtics. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

  5. Jaylen Brown holds more value to the Celtics under a 5 year contract, than under a 1-year. He does not have a no trade clause. They get more in return for a trade now, then they would if they hadn't signed him. People can criticize him for this year's playoffs if they want, but he's 26 and he was All-NBA 2nd team. These next 5 years are likely to be his peak seasons. He's more valuable now than had they not signed him to an extension. It's that simple.

  6. There is so many highly talented people in this country, how in the world do these "people" justify something like this. Mainstream bullshit/money has absolutely ruined everything.

  7. This is a stupid amount of money. I know we are in 2023, but this guy is making $30 million more per year than the best player to ever play the game did. To me, the best player in the league deserves the highest salary. Jaylen Brown is not even the best player on his team. This is absolute superstar contract money. And Jaylen Brown is not that.

  8. once again this proves that most of the players and organizations don't care about the fans only for themselves

    I learned my lesson
