After the departure of Fred VanVleet, Toronto responded by signing Dennis Schroder, who has a strong bond with Darko Rajakovic from their days together with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The team also has Malachi Flynn and potentially Jeff Dowtin Jr. if he makes the opening night roster.
But with Barnes, a player who has “PG” in his instagram bio, this is what the emerging talent wants. The flashes have been persistent with Barnes. The no-look passes, the drive and kicks, the moments of vision passing. But now, he will have the ball in his hands more than ever before and his on-court leadership, situational awareness and decision-making will all be put to the test.
It’s still unclear what, if any, major roster changes lie ahead for the Raptors. Pascal Siakam has not been traded (yet) and O.G. Anunoby, a player who was heavily sought after at the trade deadline, has a player option after the upcoming season.

Be careful what ya ask for!! Barnes will bust at p.g. By mid season Grady will make Barnes look like an in ept shootet,ball handler. Raptor fans will throw him under the buss this season! So overrated! Time will tell tho.I thought that's why they overpayed Dennis?
I was not a fan of the Scottie is the next point guard thing, but thereās an appealing precedent.
The 2018-2019 Sixers. Simmons. Redick. Butler. Harris. Embiid.
That was the most successful iteration of the Sixers in decades. If thatās the model, we are cooking with gas. The important factors is getting snipers off the bench and most importantly, OG becoming the shot creator we expected him to become. Raptors fans know thatās a big āif,ā but it was Jimmy who pushed them as far as they did. If weāre running a 6ā9 PG, we need those two things, but itās promising look. Weāre already much better than them defensively. Even Schrƶderās an interesting parallel to Tyrese Maxey (though he wasnāt drafted yet).

6'9" pg means less ball screen, poeltl will handle the ball more.
Paint touches, are with drives and passes into the paint 6'9" to 6'9" basket cuts are tough to cover
Scottie became the 4th overall by being a PG. Fred couldnāt even get drafted. Scottie became ROTY playing 1 to 5. A different position on any given night and being the fifth option having better stats then a 3rd option on a average team. Fred stole the offense and created a losing team. Best thing that happened to this team is the loss of Fred and the coming season will prove it. Get over Fred!šššš.
Our only 2 playoff wins against Philly was when Scottie was PG and Fred sat out.

Scottie is a PG and Fred is a shooting guard. Some of our big wins came with Scottie at P including our playoff wins
I kinda dont get the worry about the PNR? both Pascal and Scottie can run it no? And them running it together could be a problem no? I dont think paint touches were limited because Fred was the only one who could it looked more like a function of the offence nick refused to direct. Dennis can get by guys on his own. I agree lots of bully ball, our money is coming from the pin downs, midrange and the paint.
Imman, you can't round up 3 point % from FVV career 37% to saying he's 40%, that's INSANITY. Even if you eliminate last yr, It's still 38%, NOT 40%, it's a big difference.
I like it. Scottie at PG will be an adventure, and we are certainly setting him up for this toxic fanbase to turn on him, like they always do, but I like it. I also think they should give some run to Gradey in the starting line-up to build their chemistry. I think that pairing could really bring out the best in each of them.
