The REAL Impact Garrett Temple Can Have On The Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors have made their newest signing after locking up veteran NBA shooting guard Garrett Temple on a one-year deal worth $3.2 million according to reports from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The team has put themselves into a tough spot this summer after losing yet another key free agent in Fred VanVleet to free agency and only bringing in Dennis Schroder, Jalen McDaniels and new first-round pick Gradey Dick to replace the void. The team is in a desperate bid to try and remain competitive for the upcoming season but is having to try and do so with a minimal amount of cap space. This leads to cheap and veteran signings like Temple, so what can the player really bring to the team?

The shooting guard is 37 years old and heading into his 14th NBA season, the only reason he is without a team is because the New Orleans Pelicans waived him about a month ago. At this age can he still provide any sort of value to Masai Ujiri and Darko Rajakovic’s group? Jacob Gramegna looks to break it all down today on Amateur Hour Sports.

  1. Keep up the amazing content. Also Big Congrats on the 15k🎉! Let’s get to the 20k mark.

  2. Name a waived player that succeed with the raptors and I might hope it was a good signing🤔! So they'll cut Dowtin or who else?

  3. garett temple took the last roster spot. no incentive for players in training camp to try. big mistake. means jeff dowtin is out as well and not on the team. why would you agree to an exhibit 10 contract with raptors when all the 3 way spots and roster spots are taken?

  4. Doesn't this make it basically impossible to trade Siakam for multiple players – e.g. Hunter + Griffin + Bufkin?

  5. After such a disappointing season last year, the Raptors need to improve the on court leadership. So, if this guy can help the locker room by being positive and loose and keep guys together, then why not?!

  6. Who cares if he shoots 42% from 3 – he averages two points a game meaning he isn't capable of hitting one 3 per game. 37 year old guy who made his living as a bench role player. Completely inevitable other than the spot could have gone to a younger guy with some upside. I have put a lot of trust in Masai but he is starting to lose me. This is not a playoff calibre team – who is going to score?

  7. There’s no way we’re not making a trade right ? This makes no sense. We have so many Forwards, and why are we signing a 37 year old ? Don’t we have Thad young as the vet ? The fact that pelicans fans are glad Temple is not coming back has wondering WTF is Masai and Bobby really doing. If there’s no trade in the works I don’t what these guys are doing.

  8. I'm not mad at this, I would have preferred we sign deion waiters, he's turned his attitude around and can provide some valuable perspective and bench scoring

  9. This is stupidity. Plenty of exceptional players unsigned that would play for the minimum. Shit would have taken Serg back. Will see but honestly I am loosing faith in Webster and MU. GRADE D

  10. too bad the raps have like 15m salary going to washed mans… they could afford an actual guy without these kinds of contracts

  11. One good thing this year is raptors are being active with many options so let’s see if we can make the playoffs
