[Charania] A month after Damian Lillard requested a trade out of Portland, there remains no real traction on any kind of a deal, league sources tell The Athletic.

>There remains no shift in Lillard’s mindset and his goal of playing for the Miami Heat in the wake of the league’s initiative to warn Lillard and his agent that any further comments made “suggesting Lillard will not fully perform the services called for under his player contract in the event of a trade” will be subject to discipline, according to sources. It was also a warning to other players and agents.

>The Heat have been working on a trade package of expiring deals, three to four first-round picks and one of the team’s younger players, with Tyler Herro going to a third team. The deal could potentially also involve second-rounders and draft pick swaps, according to sources.

The only real sorta update is that Miami’s trying to find a 3rd team to trade Herro to.

  2. allknowerofknowing

Damian Lillard will never play another game in the NBA

  3. JimmyWasRight

Lillard has multiple years left and Blazers plan to tank this year, so theyre in no rush.

It’s on the Heat to find a better package. They’re the ones actually trying to win games next year.

  4. ZandrickEllison

I think this deal’s being negotiated by the AMPTP.

(This joke is for you, Los Angelenos only)

  5. Constt-Fi

Apparently a deal not happening already is illegal according to Heat fans.

  6. Solid-Confidence-966

Cronin must not be negotiating, I feel entitled to Lillard therefore Cronin should be fined! /s

  7. NudeEnjoyer

I was hoping for exactly this, when every single Heat fan considered the deal done weeks ago lmfao.

  8. SlowConfusions

Why even post this shit? Update that there is no update. Wow great thanks.

This is such a bizarre trade saga. Neither team really has leverage or is in a rush. Portland doesn’t need to trade him, but keeping him isn’t really that useful for their plans . He would be perfect for the heat but they are content with running it back and gambling on their player development.

The only one who is “screwed” is Dame but even he is still making tons of money.

Portland is probably not going to get a better offer than the one from the heat but there’s no real opportunity cost in holding out for a moonshot.

Cronin continuing to show why no one wants to play for Portland

  11. Calm-Cry4253

Pretty ugly divorce from a guy that at one time seemed locked into Portland for life and the fans see him as franchise GOAT.

Okay fine. Scoot for Siakam it is.

Just to say “We got nothing. We got No New Update. Come back Tomorrow”

  14. packimop

    BREAKING NEWS: Nothings changed

  16. Hogo-Nano

*Nothing has happened or changed in over a month but we will still miraculously have news to report to you about this every two days*

  17. Jabarles

I am begging for some sort of ban on any Lillard posts that are solely to reiterate that “shit hasn’t happened yet”. We don’t need to hear multiple times every day that nothing has happened yet lol.

  18. DM_me_yo_Pizza

Dame will play opening day in a
Blazer uniform. He won’t totally sit out. Probably some DNPs throughout the first half till the trade deadline. It’s going to be awkward.

Orlando should donate to the Miami Lillard Trade Fund.

  20. The Blazers are really in no hurry. Lillard’s contract with the Blazers ends in 2027.

The Blazers have time on their side, especially now that they’ve drafted Scoot Henderson, who they’ll be able to develop as a great PG. They have a young and talented squad. They’re not aiming for the playoffs, but that’s not their goal, as they want to rebuild.

With that in mind, they want picks and the Heat can’t satisfy them.

Damian and his agent have made it clear that they only want the Heat. As a result, other teams who could have offered attractive packages to the Blazers are blocked.

The situation could remain like this for several months yet, and in the end, it’s Lillard who’s the most embarrassed, since he’s 33 years old, and time is ticking for him!

Glad we get an ‘update’ every day on this one until it happens or doesn’t happen./s

  22. Phenomenal2313

The Blazers are in no hurry to trade Lillard and Miami has to make an offer to make them bite

  23. d-wadeisthegoat

Now this is just a thought, but if they don’t get a deal done, wouldn’t this just hurt their chances in the future, they got their loyal superstar one of the best pg’s in the league, top 75 all time, he waited there for years while ultimately not winning anything major, he finally asks for a trade bc he knows it ain’t happening, and they don’t trade him bc they don’t like the deals. When guys like KD and Harden can go wherever they want whenever they ask. What superstar would want to play for Portland after that. Now I know I’m biased, but this is just a thought, like they could hurt themselves more than I think they realize

  24. ltDoBeLikeThat_

Maybe he should have quietly made his request. Going public with the 1 team thing fucked him. I hope Portland keeps him

  25. Josh_in_Shanghai

##Dame is so valuable that Portland is demanding a team to mortgage their future in order to get him but not valuable enough for Portland to mortgage their future in order to get him help to win…..funny how that works….🤓

  26. MylesandMiles23

I honestly hope they don’t trade him. If you want to request a trade, request one. But don’t start making demands while you’re under contract, that’s a slimeball move.

  27. Saaammmy

I’d rather not see Miami Dame if they have to trade Jaquez for him

  28. Musicfan637

Dame needs to get out of the contract. Then someone will want him. He plays minimal D, was a disaster playing with all the studs on the Olympic team and he gets 60 large a year? Hard pass. Good luck Blazers.
