They believe in themselves, they believe in Toronto.

Truth is, once they won in 2019 and got bounced in 2020 they should have realized that the championship window was closed, trade for assets and focused on the future. Now they are paralyzed because the front office still hopes that the team is somewhat competitive and we can recreate lightning in a bottle by getting another star to make another run.

They need to focus on the future. Trade Pascal, develop Scottie, let Trent, Dick, Koloko and OG get some extended run and see how to proceed from there.

  2. Same bleacher report that called drafting Barnes a bad move?

  3. Masai wants to be the leader in this kind of roster set up but in reality the magic have already done it better unfortunately

It really just felt like for the past two years the raps have been just picking up the scraps from FA, and all signs have showed that they just want a team that barely makes the playoffs every year.

I think this is the year where they’ll realize they’re not nearly good enough. Just pray our draft pick isn’t traded away again this year.

Nate Duncan on Dunc’d on Prime also gave the Raptors an offseason grade of F- and said it was easily the worst offseason in the league.

Its delusional to disagree. Besides having FVV leave for nothing, on a contract that despite seeming high, actually is pretty solid when including the team option, everything surrounding the Poetl trade and extension is front office terrorism.

You give up a top 6 protected pick, to bring in an expiring player that doesnt move the needle at all and doesnt get the team even out of the play-in, only to then be in bird rights hell where you have to then insanely overpay that player to justify the already insane overpay you made to trade him. All while ensuring you cant even let him go and trade your players away to reset your roster and maximize your assets because of the top 6 protected pick you gave up and your team probably not being bad enough to keep your pick.

I have defended this team to anyone and everyone, but these last two seasons have been beyond baffling and are straight up negligent.

Pretty much, but I’m sure the Masai/Bobby zealots will just accuse the detractors of not knowing basketball.

I don’t think it’s that confusing, there just isn’t a ton of talent.

I mean they aren’t wrong, but at least I don’t have to write for bleacher report for a living.

    1. People need to stop acting like Toronto signing mid free agents is odd, that’s literally top tier for Toronto, we can’t sign superstars or even guys on the higher end. They’re literally just signing who they can. Whatever you think the free agent market is, remove the top half of that market from your brain and then look at the free agents available.

    2. Masai has had a hard on for this core and refused to accept the realities of the last two years, I think that run against Philly in the post season gave him higher hopes then he should’ve had for this core.

Nobody in the fanbase can figure it out either. We’re in “win-now mode” but could very easily miss the playoffs lol.

Oh and we don’t have our draft pick for next year.

It’s becoming clear Schroder (or Scottie?) is the guy to replace Vanvleet. I’m still waiting on a major signing for our new leader/PG. Feels like we have – potentially – even less shooting this coming season.
