Do you think the Nuggets will repeat?
They are a strong team but idk about a back to back.
Didn’t even mention nuggets draft picks in hunter Tyson & Julian strawther . Yeah Jamal & jokic we’re the best duo but I believe coach malone is top 3 coach in the nba right now. As a team they work so effectively this is bc of Malones coaching
Of course Denver can win it again. Their core is young, they have a winning coaching formula and they are greater than the sum of their already large parts. Everyone else is shuffling deck chairs. both the Suns and the Lakers were already quite stacked and Denver blew them away effortlessly. Other teams have a mountain to climb and tons of problems to solve if they're gonna win over Denver. Just for starters, who is gonna guard Jokić?
Facts, everyone focusing on the core but they need depth
Mpj has a great opportunity to improve a lot this offseason. Last few post seasons have pretty much just been rehab for him. Now he finally has a full post season to get better.
nuggets couldn't keep Bruce – he got $45M/2y… And Nuggets, bc of the rules, could NOT pay him more than ML…
Denver has couple of aces in the pocket still…
MPJ will explode next year.
Christian Braun will be 95% of Bruce Brown.
Payton Watson is a hidden gem and will have a huge breakout year.
Hunter Tyson is a steal of the draft – at 45-50% 3pt and decent size and IQ – he can be a 14-15pt player per game next season.
Not to mention Nnaji – who I expect to be a contributor this season.
Reggie will have something to work with in the 2nd unit.
Nuggets have enough talent – to play and to trade for another piece. I wont be surprised if the trade comes in soon or by the mid season.
They couldn't keep Bruce, but they will be even better next season.
Why do people think that the only way you improved your team is if they signed a name casuals can recognize. Nuggets are a team that builds and develops internally, and they already have tons of young talent they drafted that just needs some playing time. Vlatko and Zeke have already played solid and productive minutes for the Nuggets in the past, Zeke is athletic and makes a great backup for Gordon and Vlatko can do most of what Jeff Green did. And there are plenty of players looking to step in the the hole left by Bruce, even if it ends up being by committee or situation. We already saw some of what Braun can do, Watson has lots of raw talent and potential, plus Strawthers and Tyson were some of the best rookies during Summer league. Then Reggie Jackson is an ideal backup PG, he was a starter for a contenting team and has some decent playoff experience.
As for other teams getting better: Suns just added to what was already a strength and didn't address any of their weaknesses, Memphis lost a key defensive player, Celtics always look like the most talented team but never seem to put it all together, and Lakers every year claim to win the offseason with their moves yet always end up trying to revamp the majority of the team once the trade deadline comes. The real threat will come from teams that will have continuity, such as Sacramento and T-Wolves.
