> Allen, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit health care fraud and wire fraud in April, is among the 18 former NBA players accused of submitting $5 million in fraudulent medical and dental claims from 2017 to 2020, according to court documents. Allen paid back most of the $420,000 he illegally obtained before he was charged, per Brush.
> Terrence Williams, a first-round draft pick in 2009, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to forfeit more than $650,000 and pay $2.5 million in restitution last week for leading the scam, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York announced. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit health care and wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.
> Charges were also filed against Allen’s wife, Desiree; another former Celtic, Glen Davis; Shannon Brown, a two-time champion with the Lakers; Melvin Ely, who won a title with the Spurs in 2007; Sebastian Telfair, one of the most celebrated high school players in history and 12 other former players. Keyon Dooling and Alan Anderson were sentenced to 30 and 24 months in prison in connection with the case earlier this year.

Damn, he must have a really good defense…
Sounds consistent with what we’d heard earlier in the week after Williams was sentenced. The word was that Allen admitted his wrongdoing, pleaded guilty, and showed contrition throughout with a willingness to make things right. Prosecution recommended a light sentence.
That would run counter to Williams, who was the ring leader of this whole situation and also apparently threatened someone via text.
The fuck is with the rich trying to steal
Grit & Defraud

Man, steals 420k and no jail time…
Crimes are wrong but I’m not sure I feel bad about stealing from the NBA. They make enough money
So crazy. I know not every player is “lebron rich”. But damn. Most people would kill for a fraction of what these guys have. And they’re out here stealing
He had an all time defense to stop him from going to jail.
Why did certain people get 10 years?
if anybody but the rich did this, they would be looking at double to triple the consequences these guys are getting. backwards ass society we live in.
Terrence Williams should have tried being a better player as his defense.
Big baby? Noooo
10 years in prison for insurance fraud?!?! Wtf is that shit
Shannon Brown… A name I haven’t heard in a long time!
Crazy that Allen did all that for 400k.
Dude made millions. Would be like if an average Joe did it for 10k.
That’s crazy, Terrance Williams was great 3 point shooter in NBA 2K 11
you know what’s sad? – it was only five milly. we know mf’s took 50million from medicare for fake purchases of say eg front wheel walkers…i know morally incorrect- but Y’all could have stole more than that!!
Did Williams do more than Allen, or did Tony have a better Lawyer
Lol wtf is this story and how is this the first I’m hearing of it
Imagine being such a nobody behind the likes of Shannon Brown and Melvin Ely that you get lumped into the “…and 12 other former players.”
This is so fucked up and should be bigger news. It is such a good program to help former players (especially the ones worse off financially) and these assholes caused a huge hit to the credibility of the organization.
Insane Williams got more time in person for ripping off a company that fucks over Americans every day, then rich kids get for killing people while driving drunk.
First team all-fraud
first team all defense
