In 2019, Chris Paul was on the record as saying that Daryl Morey actively lied to him about not being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Assumed this was the issue. Harden thought Morey was actively shopping him, Morey wasn’t because there isn’t a realistic market.

Morey obviously not the “cleanest” of GM’s, but at the end of the day, he does what is best for the team. Way I see it, I don’t care what supposed verbal agreement there was. If it wasn’t in writing, it doesn’t exist. Harden could’ve opted out and signed for a vet min with the Clippers if playing for them was all he cared about. He obviously cares about that $35m more which is why he opted in. Don’t get to bitch and complain after opting in. Morey has every right to do whatever he wants with Harden now.

Last summer he was told he would recieve a long term extension from the Sixers at more money if he took a discount, that has not happened and Morey walked it back.
Morey then said he would actively try and trade him after his request and opt in. Morey has since had no serious trade conversations on Harden.
Morey is correct for not wanting to pay Harden, and not wanting to accpet the shite package from the Clips for him. BUT, I can completely understand why Harden is really upset about how Morey has handled his situation.

I think the piece everyone seems to miss is that Morey isn’t the owner. That man would not trade CP3 and picks for Westbrook unless someone was telling him to. Combo of Harden/Ownership most likely.

There have been a few Sixers fans who have been very vocal that it’s the Clippers fault, and not Daryl Morey’s fault, that there hasn’t been serious discussions about a trade. I’m sure those people will see this and still find a way to avoid assigning fault to Daryl Morey.
The sixers are run like trash and embiid is gonna leave mark my words. They ran Ben outta town, signed Tobias fucking Harris on a huge deal over jimmy and now they are playing games with harden. How do you lose your mvp 3 star teammates in such a short time it’s actually a crime what they are doing.
Harden has a history but so do the sixers at this point in time and what harden said was a personal attack he must really feel wronged to come out and say that publicly about a guy who he’s had a good decade plus relationship with prior. If he does sit out it really looks bad on the team 2 big names refusing to play and both would’ve risked their careers over not playing there. Cause at hardens age he really can’t afford to sit.

It’s not hard to believe Daryl is playing games and if he is it’s gonna fall back on the sixers because there is no James harden begging and clamouring to get to the sixers right now and after all that’s unfolded I doubt any big name is interested in going there. With harden leaving this should be a prime opportunity for dame to go there and he hasn’t even mentioned them.
Their plan is for maxey to suddenly become a number 2 on the levels of ad, jaylen brown, kd, bam etc which is far fetched and unrealistic especially when they couldn’t make it work with Ben, jimmy or harden.

i mean, both “active” and “trade talks” are very subjective in nature.
Morey may consider simply answering the phone from another GM is considered an active trade talk.
I think Morey is banking on the fact that the best course of action for Harden to take if he wants to earn additional years and millions after this upcoming season is for Harden to play like it’s the contract year that it actually is.
Harden will continue to take the rap for Kyrie blowing up the nets, and Morey blowing up the sixers. And he’ll do it dropping 20+/10+ on your favorite team. Looking forward to finding out how this plays out, but fuck Morey.
