[Bill Simmons] Here’s the funny thing — there IS no Harden trade. Chicago isn’t trading Derozan for him. Clips aren’t giving anything up for him. Younger teams don’t want him. Contenders can’t risk it.

  1. So will they fire Morey then to get Harden to play? Embiid putting some pressure on the ownership should do it.

There IS a Harden trade if you aren’t trying to get a positive value max player for him – you know, since you don’t think he’s worth a max. & since he’s on a 1 year deal, any team that does value him positively isn’t going to give up a farm for him since they can just wait til the deadline or the offseason anyway.

The problem is that Morey is a fuck and when teams call he either asks for their best player, all of their draft picks, or their entire young core.

Why doesn’t Miami make a move? He would be cheaper than Dame

  4. KneelBeforeCube

Nah, contenders would 100% go for it, it’s just the asking price is too high. Simmons really think the Bucks, Lakers, Suns or even Nets wouldn’t jump on Harden in a heartbeat if he could go for 2nds and salary filler?

  5. ThinkSoftware

It’s funny? Funny how, I mean funny like the 76ers are a clown? They amuse you?

  6. thisisbyrdman

Yeah it’s almost like that’s why Morey hasn’t traded him. Not because he’s a liar. Because there is zero market for James Harden.

  7. StoicRetention

Why is Chicago mentioned again? I wouldn’t mind a Harden trade for his expiring, but Philly would have to attach a pick or two because DeMar “plays 82 games per season until the heat death of the universe” DeRozan is positive value

  8. ShakesbeerMe

I sure as shit don’t want that cancerous tub o’ goo on my team.

  9. matty_nice

What if the Sixers just take back Ben Simmons? Lol

  10. JurgenFlippers

I mean the Clippers trade is there lol.

I unironically want us to try and trade for him lmao. The like single thing missing from out roster is a ball dominant scorer/playmaker. Obvioulsy we won’t but it would be the best timeline.

Trading for Harden is giving up major pieces for someone who will demand a trade in less than 2 years after a sub par playoff performance

  12. thy_armageddon

Guess that’s just how the cookie crumbls

  13. dreamvomit

The only path I see for Philly is to just blow it up and relocate to Seattle

    This sub is so weird.

    “ITS ALL ABOUT MOREYS EGO!!!11”

No it’s about doing the right thing for your franchise and fanbase. The thing they pay him the big bucks to do. To not give away a very good player for a garbage return because you’re worried that people think your a big meanie. Which is what I would want my GM to do.

Not please a bunch of a Redditors who have some weird angst about a GM doing what’s right for his franchise and not coddling brat players demands.

I’m glad he didn’t give in in the Simmons situation like this sub begged him to do. And I’m glad he’s not giving in now like this sub is begging him to do.

Tbh I think this is why Harden is so pissed. He wants to go to a contender but he also wants his money and his roses. Reality is settling in that he’s not the $40M+ player he was 5 years ago and he doesn’t want to accept it.

  16. Pierson230

I don’t understand why any team would want him enough to give up anything of worth.

He just showed that even if he has monster postseason games, he’ll still lay eggs when the stakes are high and be a total pain in the ass whenever things don’t go as he imagines they will.

He’s getting older every year and he has never taken care of himself.

What upside? What can he possibly do to take anyone to the promised land, that they can’t find already without the risk?

  17. Electric-Wallaby

    Overrated player is highly overrated.

  18. arcelios

I hope the Lakers don’t do anything foolish.. Let the Clippers or any other team have Harden, if they want

  19. DrFunkensteinberg

Is that it? Is that the joke? That he requests a trade every season?

  20. the_web_dev

Im just saying this because its weird – CP3 for Harden. Steph/Harden/Klay/Wiggins/Looney

  21. Shankypants2

Harden on the Bulls would be something. Give up Lonzo and a 2nd rounder. Let’s get this done.

  22. implosionsinapie

It’s funny that he is presenting this as if the bulls would actually keep derozan over harden. The sixers would have to not look at stats at all, derozan is an all time playoff choker that is completely incapable of shooting 3s. I would swap the two as fast as humanly possible but the sixers would never trade him for a 34 y/o that is still waiting to have a good playoff series.
