“My son didn’t get in trouble cause of people around him. He got in trouble because of his decisions.” -Tee Morant speaks to the attendees at the Up Next Elite Camp in New Orleans.

One of the topics the kids asked about today was how to handle when people are talking about you.

Its probably a little bit of both

  2. Kwilly462

Really love this. He didn’t try to defend what Ja did and give the ol’ “He’s a good person tho” shtick. Told it like it was, and said some good stuff afterwards too.

Just hope Ja can finally get his head straight.

  3. Uni-Loud

lol yea your opinion is not that reliable when you’re one of the “people around him”, of course you’re gonna fucking deny any liability

  4. NbaAllDAYger

Ja wont like this, Tee M. just lost his front row seats.

  5. jusbolo2

It was obvious, these other guys aint risking the money.

  6. jeewantha

This is pleasantly surprising. But he should also take some responsibility in the whole thing.

  7. AddisonsContracture

This leprechaun is spitting knowledge right now

  8. TurnItAroundBy30

Man.. I’m really rooting for Ja. I want him to turn things around so badly

  9. Misterxsnrub

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the people around him he’s referring to happens to include him, presumably, so in essence he is just deflecting blame from himself, all the while, he’s at a basketball camp because he’s the father of said player and would otherwise have zero business being near a basketball camp saying anything at all?

  10. TrashAssRedditAdmins

Ja’s dad doing Ja’s community outreach requirements for him

  11. grapedinosour

Love that he’s rocking a Vancouver jersey

  12. Latest-greatest

it can definitely be both. it’s a bad decision to hang around bad influences

  13. Tyronetyroned

He need to be talking to Grand theft Alvarado for stealing all them balls.

  14. fartlapse

appreciate the honesty but he didn’t raise himself.

  15. Helton73

Remember when JJ Reddick said it was society’s fault for being racist

  16. SaltedThighs

As someone that has thrown shade at Pa Morant in the past, it’s good to see him out here with the right message for the kids. (And hopefully his own kid.)

Really hoping Ja turns it around. I know this sub loves to dogpile on him but you gotta remember he’s 23 and has been handed millions of dollars. Hell I’d be making stupid decisions too. Same thing with Zion. Being given life changing money at an age where you’re figuring things out especially when you’re constantly in the limelight is a heavy responsibility and they’re learning that.

  18. LordSoze36

The beard without the mustache combo will always be wild to me.

  19. hotpocketthrowaway

Great statement, but you wish Ja would say something like this too lol

  20. killerk13

It would kill me in here when people in here would just assume JA dad wasn’t reprimanding his behavior
and just enabling it. At the end of the day JA is in control of and responsible for the shit he does. I just know at 20-23 I thought I knew everything and my parents couldn’t tell me shit lmao.

  21. MusicianExtension536

Yeah let’s have the dude who raised Ja Morant give advice to children, that’s a good one

  22. RichardIraVos

Tee morant built like a skinny fat 12 year old

  23. AthKaElGal

ofc he’ll say this. he one of the ppl surrounding Ja, lol!

  24. TheOneYardLine

I’m a simple man, I see Vancouver jersey, I like

  25. garynevilleisared

Jas dad doing the community service lmao

  26. relspels

This was my tweet and I took that video on my phone. Could’ve at least put my name in your copy/paste!

  27. jayrnaby

Love the message, simple but true. Btw, am I tripping or is that Grand Theft Alvarado in the back?

  28. Kittens4Brunch

“So don’t blame his mama and me.”

  29. KungFuSlanda

umm.. that’s kind of the opposite of accountability. One of the few people who is (in part) responsible for their son’s decisions is their dad

  30. FadeRedditMakeMoney

Really surprised that Tee Morant isn’t dying on “Ja did nothing wrong” hill.

  31. Dame2Miami

Bro looks nothing like Usher without his shades…

  32. nervous-_juggernaut

His decisions include who is around him.

  33. sweetthatscool

Wow. That’s way more self-awareness than I thought he would have. Respect.

  34. **now** you’re saying something, in the middle of the off-season, where was this kind of talk six months ago Tee?

too busy knocking back old-fashioned’s with Usher?

fuck this guy, now that shit has turned , he’s turning

into a concerned dad?, fuck him.
