🏀 Kobe Bryant’s Trade To Memphis Got Blocked

Laker fans don’t like to re-live this part of their history, but at one time Kobe demanded a trade.

He gave the Lakers front office a Grade of “F” and told @stephenasmith that he wanted out.

Jerry West inquired and Kobe was ready to play for the @memgrizz

But that’s not where Kobe belonged.

I’m from Indianapolis.

@pacers are a small market team.

I know that the only way we will ever win a championship is through the draft and getting disgruntled superstars through trades.

Free Agency will only yield us role players.

You don’t get Top 75 guys to come to markets like Memphis and Indianapolis.

Look at the NBA’s national television schedule, most of the games on ESPN/TNT are from teams in major markets.

These teams have the most star power so they get the most TV time.

Small market teams have to live with this reality inside of the NBA ecosystem.

Even if you get a Kobe Bryant to commit, there is still going to be someone in his ear to tell him to never go to a small market.
