I was like “they made a great trade for a great player”. Never knew Butler was gonna have his best years with us tbh

I was on the fence when the Jimmy to Miami news were getting a lot of traction, I felt he wasn’t going to be worth the 30mil+ per season he was going to get paid, worried about his age (29/30) and had a lot of mileage, I felt he wasn’t going to move the needle much and wasn’t the superstar/star we were looking for.
Glad Jimmy proved me wrong and showed how clueless I was.

I knew he was really good.
I didn’t know he could elevate into a top 5 player come playoff time.

I thought they were moving from mediocrity to being very good, but never good enough to contend.

I knew Buckets was the man. I was glad we could get that deal done.

i said “finally a star player that shoots 3s” clearly i didnt watch enough lol but it definitely felt like he shot 3s way more on other teams

Excited. Always loved Jimmy Buckets. Couldn’t believe he actually ended up on the Heat 👍

Jimmy butler mvp, bam adebayo dpoy, Erik spolestra city, miami heat nba champions

“Wade with the all time assist!! He might work under this team!”

Jimmy is HOF with the Heat.. what bulls ?? lol bulls are not even part of any discussion
I thought it was the perfect move at the time because we got to keep Winslow and Goran. I was sad to see Richardson go but I knew we were a star away from being a really good team. We just needed a closer and Jimmy was that guy when I saw him go shot for shot against Kawhi. I didn’t expect Robinson and Herro to blow up like they did tho.
We had a real ass squad.

I didnt really care for Jimmys game that much, but the trade was worth it in my eyes so i was cool with it. Now i love my big strong succulent Jimmylicious.

One of my best friends had just joined the army and I got the trade notification as I was writing him in basic training lmao. The whole note turned into heat propaganda lmaooooo.

Lots of people here didn’t like it… Compared it to having Chris Paul. Before butler was even traded here I was making posts stating to get butler so we can win a championship. Considering people wanted to fully tank that season it was my best prediction ever.

I always disliked Richardson Always liked jimmy sooo was kinda happy didn’t think the heat would put a good cast around him was surprised to say the least

Jimmy was my third favorite player behind Steph & D Wade so I loved it

I thought he was a great player, way better than Richardson. I was worried about his attitude. I always thought he talked a lot of trash. But I absolutely trust Pat and company.

75% caution, 25% optimism.
I wasn’t against it, but I felt he wasn’t someone who could carry a contender and I was waiting for the other move to land another star. I sincerely believed our ceiling was second round playoff loss with Jimmy alone.
Little did I know Bam would be Bam and Playoff Jimmy was a thing.
I will happily eat crow.

Im glad Richardson is back but to be honest, something about Jimmy since the Timberwolves just made me stoked for him. Us fleecing the 76ers felt like a cherry on top.

I thought it was a good trade for us but I had no idea that he would do what he’s done in his time with us

I have liked Butler since Bulls so I just said “fuck yeah”

The 76ers letting butler walk to please Ben Simmons is an all time move

I was perplexed honestly. Looked at Bam/Winslow/Richardson as our future and was looking for a bigger name if we made a swing for a star. Anticipated Jimmy starting his decline and Richardson getting better. Really had it wrong. To be fair, Jimmy had the best year of his career to that point that year and sorta showed everyone he was better than they had imagined
AlphaJona1
I had wanted him in Miami since his last Bulls year. I even remember 15yo me delusionally posting on this sub how Jimmy had liked JRich’s post and viceversa and how they followed each other lmao.
I didn’t know any better then, just that I loved Jimmy and was ecstatic about even the slightest possibility of him going to the Heat when the whole Minnesota stuff happened.
If you dig deep enough my then-new-nba-casual-fan-self was posting all over asking if anyone here thought we still had a chance at landing Butler once all seemed lost. I felt a pit in my stomach when I got the notification that he got traded to Philly.
When we finally got him I was ecstatic and so looking forward to having a star on my team (I started watching basketball, nba, and the Heat midway through the 15-16 season). All I knew was basketball limbo and hardly knew who anyone was on the Heat other than Wade, Dragić, and Whiteside on my first year watching. And since then we didn’t have the best years lol. I was just excited to get a bonafide All-Star with Jimmy. Bummed JRich was gone, but so excited nonetheless.
I would do it all over again if I had to

I’ll be honest, I thought we were gonna be mediocre and not be good enough to contend and not bad enough to get good lottery picks around bam. I was an idiot.

I thought they made a great trade for a good player that would be the building block to attract a great player. I didn’t know it was great trade for a Great player.
