Zach Lowe: “I’ve heard there’s been nothing. No meaningful dialogue at all [between Miami and Portland]. More pointedly, I don’t think there’s been another team [other than Miami].”

>I’ve heard there’s been nothing. No meaningful dialogue at all [between Miami and Portland]. More pointedly, I don’t think there’s been another team [other than Miami]. I have not heard of any other team that has really dove headlong or even halfway into the Dame Lillard sweepstakes, which is not really a sweepstakes.

that is kinda interesting unless the manager really did just say to every team if you trade for him, we will not be happy and ask for a trade from here right away

i say that because Dame had a career year, for his career, he plays like 70 games a year, only time he didn’t was the abdominal injury, and his playstyle is similar enough to a Steph where you can see him being elite for probably the remainder of his contract

Dang, so the Blazers really did overplay Dame’s card and won’t get anything for him now…

Come on Masai, you know you can get it done with Scottie + filler and a pick

That beats any likely Miami offer

best way to fix multiple team issues.

Why Atl does it: Gets Trae a very legit running mate who can also pass and spread the floor with shooting. Size to play the 3. Sells on Capela so Okongwu can finally start.

Why Phi does it: Morey has burned his bridges with Harden and needs to get a legit running mate for his MVP Embiid to save his job. This is probably the only guy available who can cover Harden’s offensive value lost.

Why Por does it: Gets them some likely picks/swaps, 2 young players they can choose to develop, and a big contract expiring in 1 year instead of in 4.

Why Dal does it: To finally give them a defensive anchor at the 5. They likely don’t pay in any picks/assets because giving up Lively, and Holmes+Green on cheap deals seems like an even swap.

Lowe really came back from a 5 week hiatus just to say “News: there is no news”

Hmm well I hope Portland trades him anyways lol, would be fun to see Boston maybe if possible get him

It’s looking more likely that dame will start the season as a blazer. I still think a trade will get done eventually but it may be closer to the deadline. Other teams that are contenders will have injuries or get desperate and offer Portland a deal they can’t refuse.

Most of the media surrounding this Dame situation has made it pretty clear that other teams think Dame’s asking price is too high for an aging pg. Doubt he moves from Portland in a trade unless they sell really low

All Miami has to do is include Bam

  10. The fact that the Wolves wouldn’t give up KAT for him is crazy

  11. likesexonlycheaper

Well yeah, no other teams are going to trade for a player who won’t play for them. Bitch move by Dame

I called it from the start. The Miami offer wasn’t bad. Dsme, as great as he’s been, is an undersized point guard in his mid thirties that’s had some injuries on an absolutely massive contract. I’m sure a lot of teams look at him and get Kemba Walker jitters (he’s obviously much better than Kemba but Kemba went from really good to falling off a cliff).

You don’t trade for Dame unless you’re 1 piece away from a contender, and it’s almost impossible to look like a contender without having great ball handlers. It’s really hard to imagine slotting his $45M onto playoff teams and seeing them still compete. A few of those teams are only there because of their ball handler (eg knicks). My favorite trade that will never happen is Dame for Scottie

Can’t wait for Shae and Scoot to dominate.

**Ninja-Edit**: while still losing for a couple years.

  15. Spo being at fiba likely means conversations wont restart at least until he’s back, Riley will be the guy who make the final decision but I doubt he’d pull the trigger without Spo’s input. Spo probably wants to at least spin the wheels on this roster in preseason and see how it feels too.

  16. Why would anything have changed? Free agency is over, the draft is over. Nobody is playing. When games start, things begin shifting – Teams start hot, players get hurt, the market activates. Maybe nothing changes as a result, but that’s at least what Portland would be waiting for unless they get cold feet about going into media day with Lillard on the roster.

  17. Portland just gotta say flat out no at this point and just truck on, this is getting ridiculous they clearly don’t want the trade and the heat can’t offer jackshit

  18. Arocamas

At this point I’m 90% sure he is with Portland until February then traded to Philly.

Yea ngl, this has been a pretty boring off season by NBA standards lol.

  20. Oh thank god Zach Lowe is back. What would we do without him and his incredible insight??

  21. NBAgospel

Portland has no reason to rush this. They know they’re probably going to end up trading him to Miami, but instead of taking their offer now might as well wait to see how Miami starts the season. Maybe they sputter out the gate, start slipping in the standings, and sweeten their offer. Plus I’d want Miami to take Nurkic.

  22. ConstantineMonroe

Dame is gonna move at the deadline. Some contending team that thinks it can win a title will get a major injury to their guard and all of a sudden, Portland’s asking price won’t look too high. Or if an injury doesn’t happen, a team that thinks it can make a huge splash and form a championship team that year will make the trade. Or he will go the Miami Heat, but I can’t imagine that he plays the whole year next year for Portland.

  23. Gontofinddad

What can OKC offer to end this, while beating anything Miami seems willing to trade?

    Bertans, Medium filler(Dort), Medium filler(Jwill), low filler(Pokusevski?) and 3 firsts, 5 Seconds?
